Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Canon ELURA 40mc / 50 / 60 / 65 Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (NB-2L18)
This is a 7.4V, 2000mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Canon ELURA MiniDV camcorder series. It fits the ELURA 40mc, 50, 60, and 65, along with over 46 additional compatible models. It replaces OEM part numbers NB-2L18, BP-2L18, and BP-2L24.
- ELURA series compatibility: These camcorders share the same 7.4V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol across the line. One cell covers the full range without modification or adapters.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on an ELURA body. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, and voltage under record-mode load held steady across the discharge curve.
- First-use charge cycle on ELURA camcorders: Insert the battery and charge it fully inside the camcorder body or OEM charger before your first shoot. Some ELURA BMS units need one complete in-body charge cycle to calibrate the battery-remaining display accurately on a new cell.
Canon ELURA BMS rejecting a third-party cell on first install
Canon's ELURA BMS runs an authentication check when a new cell is first detected. If the cell hasn't completed a charge cycle in the camera or OEM charger, the body may flag the battery as unrecognised and refuse to power on. This isn't a fault with the cell itself — it's the BMS waiting for a handshake it only triggers after a full charge sequence. Insert the battery, connect to the OEM charger, and let it charge to 100% before attempting to record.
Battery percentage jumping erratically on the ELURA display
The ELURA's battery indicator maps voltage thresholds from the OEM cell's discharge curve. A new replacement cell has a slightly different curve, so the indicator can jump from 100% to 60% quickly, then hold steady — this is a calibration mismatch, not a capacity problem. After one or two full charge and discharge cycles, the BMS re-maps its thresholds to the new cell and the display stabilises. If it continues past three cycles, check that resting voltage after a full charge reads at or above 8.3V.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Canon ELURA shows a blank screen and won't power on after I installed the new battery — what's wrong?
The ELURA BMS performs an authentication check on first contact with a new cell. If the check fails before a charge cycle completes, the body stays off even with a good battery seated. Connect the battery to the OEM charger or Canon-approved wall charger and let it reach a full charge before inserting it into the camcorder. Once the BMS has completed one full charge handshake, the camera will power on normally.
The battery percentage on my ELURA drops from full to half in the first few minutes of recording, then barely moves — is the cell defective?
This is a voltage-threshold mapping issue, not a defective cell. The ELURA's indicator is calibrated against the OEM discharge curve, and a new cell's curve doesn't match exactly on the first cycle. The indicator front-loads its drop, then levels out once it reaches the mid-range voltage band around 7.0–7.2V. Run two full charge-to-discharge cycles and the display will track more evenly from that point forward.
My ELURA camcorder body gets noticeably warm during extended MiniDV recording sessions — is that drawing down the battery faster than it should?
Heat during sustained video recording is normal on the ELURA platform. The combined draw from the tape transport motor, LCD, CCD sensor, and image processor all pull current simultaneously, which runs the cell harder than still-capture use. That thermal load does increase the discharge rate compared to short clips. Keep recording sessions under continuous load to reasonable lengths, and avoid leaving the camcorder in record-standby with the LCD on — standby draw with the screen active adds cumulative drain without capturing footage.
