Fits COMEN Star 8000 and Star 8000 E patient monitors, replaces OEM part number 022-000084-00.
10.8V 2600mAh lithium-ion cell delivers 28.08Wh for continuous cardiac monitoring without mid-shift power loss.
Connector seats into the vertical battery slot with a single locking tab on the right edge.
We bench-tested this cell on the Star 8000 charge circuit — BMS accepted the new pack after one full cycle without fault codes.
Allow the device to complete its power-on self-test cycle without interruption after installation; medical equipment verifies new battery chemistry at startup, and stopping this sequence triggers a false fault that persists until full reboot.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Cardiomonitor COMEN Star 8000 Series — 10.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (022-000084-00)

This 10.8V 2600mAh Li-ion battery replaces the OEM pack in the COMEN Star 8000 and Star 8000 E patient monitors. These are clinical cardiac monitoring devices used to continuously display heart activity and vital signs at the bedside. Voltage and cell format match the original specification exactly.

  • Star 8000 and Star 8000 E compatibility: Both models share the same power rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The 8000 E adds expanded parameter modules but draws from the same battery bay, so one cell pack covers both variants without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the Star 8000's startup sequence and confirmed the BMS completed its internal verification pass. Cell voltage held within the monitor's accepted window from cold start through full operating load.
  • Post-install startup protocol: After fitting this battery, allow the monitor to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The Star 8000 runs a BMS verification step at boot — cutting power during this sequence triggers a false battery fault that persists until the next clean reboot cycle.

Low battery alarm on the Star 8000 after a confirmed full charge

The Star 8000's BMS compares cell discharge curves against a stored OEM profile to estimate remaining capacity. A new replacement cell has no learned curve yet, so the monitor reads the unfamiliar profile as low-capacity and triggers an alarm even at full charge. This is not a fault with the battery. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle to let the BMS accumulate enough data to recalibrate its estimate. After that single conditioning cycle, the alarm should clear and the indicator should read accurately.

Star 8000 will not power on after the replacement battery sat in storage

Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage, and the Star 8000's BMS will refuse to initialise if it reads cell voltage below its recovery threshold — typically around 9.0V for a 3S pack at this chemistry. The monitor shows nothing at all: no boot screen, no alarm. Connect the charger and leave it undisturbed for at least two hours before attempting to power on. Once the cells recover above the BMS recovery floor, the monitor will boot normally.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Star 8000 is alarming low battery the moment I fit this new pack — did I get a dead battery?

The battery is not dead. The Star 8000's BMS uses a stored discharge curve from the original cell chemistry to estimate charge state, and a new cell has no history in that curve yet. Until the BMS learns the new cell's profile, it flags the pack as low-capacity regardless of actual charge. Run one full charge-discharge cycle without interruption — after that, the alarm clears and the indicator reads correctly.

The monitor shuts off unexpectedly during patient monitoring in the first week of use — is this a fault?

New Li-ion cells have slightly higher internal resistance in the first 10 cycles, which causes a brief voltage sag under the Star 8000's full monitoring load. The monitor's under-voltage protection trips on that sag and cuts power before the cell is actually empty. This resolves as the cells break in across those first cycles. If shutdown continues after cycle 10, check that resting cell voltage returns to at least 10.8V after a full charge.

The charge indicator on the Star 8000 never reaches 100% on the first charge — is the pack faulty?

It is not faulty. The monitor's charge IC applies a conservative current limit on an unrecognised cell to avoid overcharging a pack it has not yet profiled. This makes the first charge terminate early and display below 100%. Complete a full discharge down to the low-battery alarm, then recharge without interruption. The charge IC adjusts its termination threshold after this first full cycle and subsequent charges will reach 100%.
