The Star 8000's BMS compares the new cell's internal resistance profile against stored OEM chemistry thresholds. A fresh cell that has not completed a full charge-discharge cycle reads outside that threshold window, and the monitor flags it as degraded even when voltage is correct. This is not a fault with the replacement cell. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle and the BMS recalibrates its reference point. After that cycle, the low-battery alarm should clear and the charge indicator should track accurately.

Monitor will not power on after the battery has been in storage

Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If the cell voltage has dropped below approximately 2.5V per cell (7.5V pack total), the Star 8000's BMS enters deep-discharge protection and blocks output entirely — the monitor shows no response at all. Connect the battery to the monitor on mains power and leave it for 20–30 minutes before attempting to power on. This allows the charge IC to apply a recovery trickle current and bring the pack back above the BMS re-enable threshold of around 9V before normal charging resumes.
