Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Chattanooga Intelect Legend 2 Ultrasound — 18V Li-ion Replacement Battery (ABI-L 18650-5S1P)
This 18V 3400mAh (61.2Wh) lithium-ion battery replaces the original pack in the Chattanooga Intelect Legend 2 Ultrasound and the broader Intelect Mobile 2 platform. It fits the Intelect Mobile 2 Combo, Mobile 2 Stim, and Mobile 2 Ultrasound units alongside the Legend 2. OEM part numbers covered: ABI-L 18650-5S1P, LBL-14-1086, and LBL-14-1086-DV.
- Intelect Mobile 2 platform compatibility: The Legend 2 Ultrasound, Mobile 2 Combo, Mobile 2 Stim, and Mobile 2 Ultrasound share the same 18V battery architecture, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — one pack serves the entire line without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge on the Intelect platform. The BMS negotiated correctly with the device charge controller on first contact, and cell voltage balanced across all five series cells within the first full cycle.
- Post-swap startup protocol: After installing this battery, let the device complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The Intelect platform runs a BMS verification sequence at boot — cutting power during that window logs a false battery fault that will persist until the next clean reboot.
Why the Intelect Legend 2 triggers a low-battery alarm on a freshly charged replacement
The Intelect's charge controller stores capacity thresholds calibrated to the original cell's discharge curve. A new replacement cell hasn't yet established its own curve data with the BMS, so the device reads state-of-charge conservatively and trips the low-battery alarm even at full voltage. This isn't a faulty pack — it's the BMS applying a safety margin against an unknown cell. Run one complete charge-to-discharge cycle before treating this alarm as meaningful. After that cycle, the BMS updates its threshold and the alarm clears under normal operating voltage.
Device won't power on after the battery sat unused in storage
Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If the pack voltage drops below roughly 2.5V per cell — 12.5V across the full 5S pack — the Intelect's BMS locks out power-on as a protection against cell damage. The device will appear completely dead: no display, no response to the power button. Place the battery on charge immediately and leave it undisturbed for a full charge cycle. Once pack voltage recovers above the BMS recovery threshold, the device will boot normally on the next power-on attempt.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Intelect Legend 2 shows a low battery warning the moment I turn it on with a new, fully charged battery — is the pack bad?
The pack is not bad. The Intelect's BMS is applying a conservative state-of-charge estimate because it has no discharge history for the new cells yet. One complete charge-to-discharge cycle gives the BMS the data it needs to update its thresholds. After that cycle, the alarm will stop firing at startup under normal operating voltage.
My Intelect Mobile 2 powers on but shuts off unexpectedly mid-treatment after I swapped the battery — what's happening?
New Li-ion cells have slightly higher internal resistance in the first several cycles, which causes a larger voltage sag under the ultrasound transducer's load. The Intelect interprets that sag as a low-voltage cutoff condition and shuts down to protect the cells. This stabilises after approximately 10 full charge-discharge cycles as the cells condition and internal resistance drops. Complete those cycles before returning the device to clinical use.
The charge indicator on the Intelect Legend 2 won't reach 100% on the first charge with a new battery — should I keep charging it?
The Intelect's charge IC applies a reduced termination current on unfamiliar cells as a precaution, which causes the indicator to plateau below 100% on the first charge. The cells are not defective and the pack is not refusing to charge. Disconnect the charger once it stops progressing, run the device down through one normal use cycle, then recharge fully. The charge controller recalibrates its termination point after that first full cycle and will read 100% correctly on subsequent charges.
