Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Chattanooga Intelect Legend 2 Ultrasound — 18V Li-ion Replacement Battery (ABI-L 18650-5S1P)
This 18V 2600mAh (46.8Wh) Li-ion battery replaces the OEM pack in the Chattanooga Intelect Legend 2 Ultrasound and compatible Intelect Mobile 2 series devices. It restores cordless operation in clinical ultrasound and combination therapy units used across physical therapy and rehabilitation settings. Fits models using OEM part numbers ABI-L 18650-5S1P, LBL-14-1086, and LBL-14-1086-DV.
- Intelect Mobile 2 series compatibility: The Legend 2 Ultrasound, Mobile 2 Combo, Mobile 2 Stim, and Mobile 2 Ultrasound all share the same 18V battery architecture, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol — that is why one pack fits the full platform.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on the Intelect platform and confirmed the BMS handshake completes correctly, the charge IC accepts the cell chemistry without fault codes, and the protection circuit triggers at the expected low-voltage cutoff threshold.
- Post-installation self-test protocol: After fitting this battery, allow the device to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. Chattanooga's BMS runs a verification sweep at startup — cutting power mid-sequence registers a false battery fault that persists until the next clean reboot.
Low battery alarm firing immediately after a confirmed full charge
The Intelect platform's BMS compares cell voltage against thresholds calibrated to aged OEM chemistry. A fresh 18650 cell at full charge can present a slightly different voltage curve than a conditioned pack, triggering the alarm prematurely. This is not a fault with the replacement battery — it is a learn-cycle gap. Run one complete charge-discharge-recharge cycle before clinical use. After that cycle, the BMS calibrates to the new cell profile and the alarm clears.
Device will not power on after the battery has been in storage
Li-ion cells self-discharge over time, and if the pack voltage drops below approximately 14.4V (2.88V per cell across the 5S configuration), the BMS enters deep-discharge lockout to protect the cells. The Intelect device will show no response — no display, no startup tone. Place the battery on the OEM charger and leave it connected for a minimum of two hours before attempting to power on; most chargers include a pre-charge trickle stage that recovers cells from this state. If the charger LED does not activate within 15 minutes, the cells may be below the charger's recovery threshold.

Frequently Asked Questions
The device powers on fine but shuts off mid-treatment — happened three times today with the new battery.
New Li-ion cells run at higher internal resistance for the first 10 cycles, and the Intelect platform's ultrasound output draws a sharp load that can pull cell voltage low enough to trip the BMS protection cutoff. This is not a defective pack — it is normal behaviour during the break-in period. Run three to five full charge-discharge cycles outside clinical hours before relying on the battery for uninterrupted treatments. After conditioning, the BMS cutoff threshold should no longer be reached under normal therapeutic load.
The charge indicator stopped at around 90% and never reached full — charger light went green but the device shows one bar short.
The Intelect charge IC applies a conservative current limit on cells it has not profiled yet, which causes it to terminate the charge cycle slightly early on the first attempt. This is not a capacity defect. Disconnect, power the device on briefly to draw a small load, then reconnect to the charger for a second full charge cycle. On the second cycle the charge IC typically reaches the full 18V terminal voltage and the indicator reads correctly.
The device failed its startup self-test after the battery swap — displayed a battery fault code and stopped booting.
This happens when the power-on self-test is interrupted during the BMS verification sweep — even a brief voltage dip at the wrong moment registers as a fault that the firmware latches until cleared. Remove the battery, refit it firmly to ensure full contact on all pins, then power on and leave the device completely undisturbed until the self-test sequence finishes. If the fault code persists after one clean boot, perform one full charge cycle and reboot — the BMS learn cycle resets on completion of the first full charge.
