Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Chattanooga Intelect Mobile 1 Range — 24.0V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (27478)
This 24.0V, 1500mAh Ni-MH battery replaces the original power cell in the Chattanooga Intelect Mobile 1 Range portable electrotherapy unit. It also fits the Intelect Mobile Laser, Intelect Mobile Range Ultrasound, and Intelect Transport 2738, among other units in the Intelect Mobile family. Voltage and cell count match the OEM specification exactly.
- Intelect Mobile family compatibility: These units share a common 24.0V power architecture, connector format, and BMS handshake protocol across the range. A single battery design covers the full platform because the charge IC and BMS thresholds are standardised across Intelect Mobile variants.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through charge and discharge on the Intelect Mobile platform. The BMS accepted the cell pack without fault codes, completed the startup self-test, and held voltage within the expected delivery band under therapeutic output load.
- First-use self-test protocol: After installing this battery, let the device complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The Intelect Mobile runs a BMS verification sequence at startup — cutting power during this window triggers a persistent battery fault that does not clear until the next complete reboot.
Device not completing boot sequence after battery swap
The Intelect Mobile runs a multi-step BMS verification at power-on that checks cell voltage, pack resistance, and chemistry signature. A new Ni-MH cell that has not yet completed its first full charge-discharge cycle may present a resting voltage just below the BMS acceptance threshold. The device interprets this as a degraded or incompatible pack and halts the boot sequence before reaching the ready screen. Fully charge the battery before first installation, then allow the self-test to run to completion without removing power — this clears the fault and registers the pack correctly.
Low battery alarm triggers immediately after a confirmed full charge
This happens when the BMS compares the new cell's voltage curve against thresholds calibrated to a conditioned OEM pack. Fresh Ni-MH cells have a slightly flatter discharge curve in the first few cycles, which the charge IC can misread as insufficient capacity. The alarm clears after one complete charge-discharge cycle establishes the correct baseline in the BMS memory. Run the device through one full clinical session after the initial charge, return it to the charger, and allow a full charge to completion — the alarm should not reappear after that cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Intelect Mobile powers on but shuts off partway through a treatment session — is this a faulty battery?
Not necessarily. New Ni-MH cells deliver higher internal resistance in the first 5–10 cycles, and the Intelect Mobile's load profile during active therapeutic stimulation is demanding enough to trigger the BMS undervoltage cutoff before the cell is fully conditioned. This is not a defect — it is the cell stabilising. Run three to five complete charge-discharge cycles before clinical deployment and the cutoff threshold should no longer trip during normal session lengths.
The Intelect Mobile will not power on at all after the replacement battery sat in storage for several weeks before installation.
Ni-MH cells self-discharge at roughly 1–3% per day at room temperature. A pack stored for several weeks can drop below the BMS recovery threshold — typically around 20V on a 24V Ni-MH pack — which causes the BMS to refuse to initiate. Place the battery in the Intelect Mobile charger for a minimum of two hours before attempting to power the device on. If the charger accepts the pack and the charge indicator activates, the cell voltage has recovered above the recovery floor and the device will boot normally.
The charge indicator on the Intelect Mobile charger is not reaching 100% on the first charge of the new battery — should we be concerned?
The Intelect Mobile charge IC applies a conservative current limit when it detects a new or low-history pack, which extends the charge acceptance window and can cause the indicator to stall below full on the first pass. This is the charger protecting the cell, not a fault. Leave the battery on charge until the indicator completes — it may take longer than the typical cycle for a conditioned pack. After the first full charge terminates naturally, subsequent charges will complete at the normal rate.
