It replaces the original cell when capacity has degraded to the point where the laptop no longer holds a useful charge. BIOS reporting poor battery health immediately after replacement

The M660 BIOS reads EEPROM data embedded in the battery pack to assess health. When a new cell is installed, that EEPROM data does not match the usage history the BIOS has stored for the old pack, triggering a false "poor health" or "replace battery" warning. This is not a fault with the replacement cell. Running one full discharge-to-hibernate then a complete uninterrupted charge to 100% allows the BIOS to rebuild its battery profile against the new cell and clear the warning.

Laptop shuts down at 20–30% charge shown on the fuel gauge

This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated against the new cell's actual charge curve. The IC carries over voltage-to-capacity mapping from the old, degraded cell, so it misreads the remaining capacity and cuts power before the battery is actually depleted. It is not a fault with the replacement battery. Run two to three full discharge-to-hibernate and full charge cycles — after the third cycle the fuel gauge IC recalibrates and the shutdowns stop. Confirm calibration is complete when the laptop reaches hibernate at or below 5% shown.

Why does my Clevo M660 show the wrong Wh rating in system info after fitting the new battery?

The Wh figure shown in Windows or the BIOS comes from the EEPROM data inside the battery pack, not from a live measurement of the cells. The EEPROM on a replacement cell is programmed to the rated chemistry spec, which can differ slightly from what the old degraded pack was reporting. This is expected behaviour and does not affect charging or operation. Check the physical label on the battery — if it reads 73.26Wh, the cell is correct.

The Clevo M660 BIOS shows the battery as "unknown" or 0% immediately after install — what's wrong?

The BIOS briefly loses communication with the battery pack's BMS during the first boot after a swap, which causes the unknown or 0% reading. Power the laptop off completely, remove the battery, reseat it firmly until the connector clicks, then boot again. If the reading persists past the second boot, the BIOS battery learn cycle needs to run — discharge fully to hibernate, then charge uninterrupted to 100% and the BIOS will re-establish the pack profile.

Charge stops climbing and holds at around 80% on the M660 — is the replacement cell faulty?

A charge limit holding at 80% on this platform is almost always a BIOS-controlled charge threshold, not a cell fault. Some Clevo M-series BIOS versions and third-party battery utilities activate a charge cap to reduce long-term wear. Check the BIOS power settings under the Battery menu and disable any charge limit or battery care mode. Once the cap is off, plug in and verify the charge climbs past 80% within one cycle.
