Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Toshiba Netbook NB100 Series — 7.2V Li-ion Replacement Battery (PA3689U-1BAS)

This is a 7.2V, 6600mAh (47.52Wh) Li-ion replacement battery for the Toshiba Netbook NB100 series. It cross-references OEM part numbers PA3689U-1BAS, PABAS155, PA3689U-1BRS, and PABAS156. It fits the NB100, NB100-01G, NB100-111, NB100-12A, and over 34 additional NB100 variants.

  • NB100 platform fit: All NB100 variants share the same 7.2V two-cell Li-ion architecture, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol — so one cell works across the full NB100 range without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on an NB100 unit. The BMS handshook correctly, charge current tapered normally at 100%, and protection circuitry triggered as expected at low-voltage cutoff.
  • First-cycle conditioning on the NB100: After installation, run one full discharge until the laptop hibernates, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after a cell swap.

Why the NB100 BIOS reports poor battery health after a cell swap

The NB100 BIOS reads health data from EEPROM registers on the battery's protection board. When a new cell is installed, those registers still reflect the degraded state of the old cell. The BIOS flags it as poor health before any charge cycle has run. One full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% allows the BIOS learn cycle to rewrite those values against the new cell's actual capacity.

NB100 shutting down at 20–30% charge remaining after battery swap

This is a voltage cliff failure — the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve, so it misreads the new cell's state of charge. Under combined CPU and display load, the real cell voltage drops below the protection board cutoff before the OS gauge reaches 0%. Two to three full discharge-to-hibernate cycles recalibrate the fuel gauge IC against the new chemistry. After calibration, the gauge and actual cutoff voltage will align at approximately 6.0V under load.

Frequently Asked Questions

My NB100 shows the battery as "unknown" or 0% right after installing the new cell — is the battery faulty?

The EEPROM on the new battery's protection board hasn't been read by the BIOS yet, so it reports unknown or zero until the learn cycle runs. This is normal after any cell swap on the NB100. Charge uninterrupted to 100%, then let the laptop discharge fully to hibernate — one complete cycle clears the unknown status. If it persists after two cycles, check that the battery connector is fully seated.

The NB100's charge stops at 80% and won't go higher — what's causing that?

On some NB100 units, the BIOS has a charge-limit setting active — this is firmware behaviour, not a fault with the cell itself. Go into BIOS setup (F2 at boot) and check for a battery charge threshold or eco-charge option. Disable it, save, and reboot, then charge again. If no such setting exists, run the battery learn cycle — one full discharge to hibernate followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100%.

The system info panel shows the wrong Wh rating for the new battery — it doesn't match the 47.52Wh spec. Why?

The Wh value shown in system info is pulled from the battery's EEPROM, which stores the rated figure from the original cell's chemistry profile — not the measured capacity of the new cell. After one or two full discharge-charge cycles, the fuel gauge IC updates its calculation against the actual cell behaviour, and the reported Wh figure will shift closer to the real value. This is a data-sync issue between the EEPROM and the fuel gauge IC, not a capacity defect.
