Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Clevo N855HC / N857 Series — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery (6-87-N850S-6E7)
This is an 11.1V, 4400mAh (48.84Wh) Li-ion battery built to the same electrical spec as the original cell in the Clevo N855HC, N857EK1, N857HK1, and N857EP6 notebooks. It uses OEM part numbers 6-87-N850S-6E7, 6-87-N850S-6U7, 6-87-N850S-6U71, and N850BAT-6. If your current cell no longer holds charge or the laptop runs only on AC power, this is the direct swap.
- N855HC and N857-series fit: These models share the same 11.1V battery bus, six-cell connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — which is why one part number covers the full N850-platform family.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge-discharge cycles on the N855HC platform. The BMS communicated correctly over SMBus, reported accurate state-of-charge, and held the charge-termination threshold at the expected voltage without tripping a fault.
- Post-install calibration cycle: After fitting this battery, run the laptop unplugged until it hibernates at low-battery cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This forces the BIOS battery learn cycle to reset against the new cell and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap.
BIOS reporting poor battery health immediately after fitting a new cell
The N855HC BIOS reads health data stored in the battery's EEPROM, not from live cell measurements. When you swap cells, the EEPROM on the new battery carries factory-default values that don't match the laptop's stored charge history, so the firmware flags the battery as degraded before it has ever cycled. Running one complete discharge-to-hibernate followed by a full uninterrupted charge lets the fuel gauge IC write fresh calibration data. After two or three full cycles the health readout in the BIOS and in Windows typically normalises.
Laptop shutting down at 20–30% charge shown on the meter
This is a voltage-cliff failure, not a gauge glitch. Under combined CPU and display load, the cell voltage drops faster than the fuel gauge IC can track — the laptop hits the hardware undervoltage cutoff while the OS still shows charge remaining. It happens most often when the fuel gauge hasn't been calibrated to the new cell yet. Run the calibration cycle described above; if the shutdowns persist after three full cycles, check that the BIOS is not set to a custom low-battery threshold above 20% under Power Management settings.

Frequently Asked Questions
The OS fuel gauge is jumping around and showing wildly different percentages — is the new battery faulty?
The fuel gauge IC on the N855HC needs several full charge-discharge cycles to learn the capacity curve of the new cell. Until that calibration completes, the percentage readout will be unstable and can jump 10–20 points between readings. This is not a faulty battery. Run two to three full discharge-to-hibernate cycles followed by uninterrupted charges to 100%, and the gauge will stabilise.
Windows Device Manager shows the battery Wh rating as lower than the 48.84Wh listed — why does the number not match?
The Wh figure Windows reads comes from the EEPROM's design-capacity register, which is written at the factory and may reflect a slightly different rated value than the label capacity. The actual electrochemical capacity of the cell is correct. After the fuel gauge IC completes its calibration cycles against the real cell, the reported full-charge capacity in Windows Battery Report will converge closer to the actual 48.84Wh figure.
The replacement battery is stuck charging at 80% and never reaches 100% — what is stopping it?
The N855HC BIOS includes a firmware-controlled charge limit that caps charging at 80% when enabled under power or battery settings. This is a BIOS feature, not a fault with the replacement cell. Go into the BIOS Power Management or Battery Care settings, disable the charge limit or set the ceiling to 100%, save and reboot — the battery will then charge to full.
