Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Wooking Z17-8U / K17-8U — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This is an 11.1V, 4400mAh (48.84Wh) Li-ion battery for the Clevo Z17-8U, K17-8U, and Z17 laptops. It restores portable operation when the original cell no longer holds usable charge. Voltage and connector match the stock battery on these Clevo-based systems.
- Z17-8U and K17-8U platform fit: Both models share the same battery bay dimensions, 11.1V three-cell voltage rail, and connector pinout — one battery covers both. The BMS handshake protocol is identical across this Clevo chassis family.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on the Z17 platform. The BMS reported correct voltage at each stage and did not trigger premature cutoff under combined CPU and display load.
- First-cycle calibration on Clevo systems: After installing, run one full discharge to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This forces the BIOS battery learn cycle to reset against the new cell data and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on this platform.
BIOS reporting poor battery health after fitting the new cell
The Clevo BIOS reads health data stored in the battery's EEPROM. When a new cell goes in, the EEPROM data does not match the discharge history the BIOS learned from the old battery. The system flags this mismatch as degraded health — even on a brand-new cell. Running the battery learn cycle (full discharge to hibernate, then a full uninterrupted charge) rewrites the reference data and clears the warning. After two or three full cycles the health reading normalises.
Laptop cuts off at 20–30% shown on the fuel gauge
This is a voltage cliff, not a calibration error. Under full CPU plus display load, the cell voltage drops faster than the fuel gauge IC can track — the system hits the low-voltage cutoff threshold while the gauge still shows charge remaining. The fuel gauge IC needs several full cycles against the new cell chemistry to build an accurate model. Run three complete discharge-to-hibernate and full-charge cycles, then check whether the cutoff point shifts. If the laptop still shuts down above 15% after five cycles, check that the BIOS battery charge limit setting is not capping output voltage below 11.1V.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Z17-8U shows the new battery as 0% or "unknown" right after I installed it — is the battery dead?
No — the fuel gauge IC on Clevo systems loses its reference model when the old cell is swapped out. Until it runs at least one full discharge-to-hibernate cycle followed by a complete charge, it cannot calculate state of charge accurately against the new cell. Plug in, charge to 100% without interruption, then let the laptop discharge fully to hibernate on battery only. Repeat twice more and the gauge reading will stabilise.
The battery capacity shown in Windows says something different from the 48.84Wh spec — why is there a mismatch?
The Wh figure Windows reports is pulled from the battery's EEPROM, which stores the rated design capacity. The fuel gauge IC calculates full-charge capacity separately based on actual measured charge delivered during cycles. These two numbers diverge on any new cell until the IC has run enough cycles to build a learned capacity value. After three to five full discharge-charge cycles the reported full-charge capacity will converge toward the 48.84Wh rating.
Charging stops at around 80% and won't go higher — is the replacement battery faulty?
Check the Clevo BIOS first — many Z17-series systems include a battery charge limit setting that caps charging at 80% to reduce cell wear. This is a firmware control, not a battery fault. Go into the BIOS setup utility, locate the battery or power management section, and set the charge limit to 100%. If no such setting exists and the charge still stops at 80%, disconnect AC power for 30 seconds, reconnect, and allow the charge cycle to restart from the current state of charge.
