Run a full discharge to hibernate cutoff, then plug in and charge uninterrupted to 100%. After that single calibration cycle the BIOS should report a valid percentage.

Windows battery report shows a Wh rating that doesn't match the 48.84Wh spec on the listing — why?

Windows pulls the Wh figure from the EEPROM data the BIOS has stored, which reflects the old cell's rated chemistry until the learn cycle rewrites it. The physical cell is 48.84Wh as per the product spec — the software figure catches up after one full discharge-to-100%-charge cycle resets the stored values. Check the Windows battery report again after that cycle and the Wh figure will align.

The T58 charge indicator stops at 80% and won't go higher — is the new battery faulty?

Not necessarily — Machenike's BIOS includes a charge-limit setting that caps charging at 80% to reduce cell wear during extended mains use. Check the Machenike Control Center software or the BIOS power settings for a "battery conservation mode" or "charge limit" toggle. Disable that setting, unplug, and reconnect the charger. The battery will then charge to 100%.
