Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Felco 82 Electric Pruning Shears — 24V Ni-MH Replacement Battery
This listing covers a 24V 5000mAh (120Wh) Ni-MH replacement battery for the Felco 82 series electric pruning shears. It fits the 82, 82A, 82/101, and 82/82A models — the cordless pruning tools used in vineyards, orchards, and professional horticultural work. Voltage and connector match OEM spec; no adapter or modification needed.
- Felco 82 series compatibility: The 82, 82A, 82/101, and 82/82A share the same 24V battery rail and connector housing, so one pack covers all four variants without fitment issues.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran full charge/discharge cycles — the BMS held voltage steady under cutting load and tripped cleanly at the low-voltage cutoff without throttling the blade motor.
- Ni-MH storage before first use: Ni-MH cells lose charge during shipping; run a full charge cycle before first use to bring cells to balanced capacity, which matters more for this chemistry than for lithium packs.
Why Felco still uses Ni-MH at 24V
Ni-MH cells tolerate the damp, temperature-variable environments of orchard and vineyard work better than older lithium configurations at this voltage. At 5000mAh, the pack stores 120Wh — enough reserve for extended cutting sessions without mid-shift swaps. The chemistry also handles partial charges without the memory penalty that plagued older Ni-Cd tools, so topping up between rows won't degrade capacity over time.
Shears lose cutting power before the battery indicator drops — here's why
Ni-MH voltage sags under load as cells age, even when the indicator still reads partial charge. The blade motor in the Felco 82 draws high current at the cutting moment, and a weak cell in the pack causes a voltage dip that the indicator misses at rest. If cuts feel sluggish before the light warns you, the pack is at end of life. A full replacement restores the voltage headroom the motor needs to cut cleanly through thick canes.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Felco 82 cuts about halfway through pruning and then just stops mid-cut — why does it keep dying before the job is done?
This is a thermal cutoff triggering inside the Ni-MH pack, not a capacity problem. Ni-MH cells at 24V heat up fast under the sustained high-current draw of repeated cuts through thick stems, and the battery's protection circuit shuts it down to prevent cell damage. Let the pack cool for 10–15 minutes and it will usually restart — if it does, that confirms thermal cutoff rather than a dead cell. To verify the pack is still healthy and not just heat-stressed, charge it fully and check the terminal voltage under no load: a good 24V Ni-MH should read between 25.2V and 28.8V.
The charger light went solid green almost immediately after I plugged in the new Felco battery — is it actually charged or did it just skip the cycle?
Ni-MH chargers use a delta-V peak-detection method to sense a full charge, and a deeply discharged or storage-drained pack can fool that circuit into reading "full" before any real charge has gone in. This is called a false peak, and it's common in 24V Ni-MH packs that have been sitting. Pull the pack off, wait two minutes, and check the terminal voltage with a multimeter — a genuinely full 24V Ni-MH should read above 25V; anything below 24V means the charger quit early. If it reads low, some chargers have a "refresh" or "reconditioning" mode that applies a slow charge first — use that if yours has it.
I fitted the replacement battery on my Felco 82 and the blade moves but feels weak — it's not cutting clean like before, what's wrong?
Slow or weak blade movement on a fresh battery usually points to voltage sag under load, where the pack can't sustain the current the motor demands at the moment of the cut. On Ni-MH chemistry this happens when cells are cold (under 10°C / 50°F) or when the pack has been stored discharged and the cells haven't reformed yet. Run two or three full charge-discharge cycles before judging performance — Ni-MH cells recover capacity through cycling after storage. If it still feels sluggish after conditioning, measure voltage at the tool's battery terminals during a cut: a reading that drops below 21V under load signals a weak cell in the pack.
