Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

AL-KO Cordless Gardening Tool — 18V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This 18V 3000mAh Li-ion pack replaces the original battery across AL-KO's Comfort series cordless garden tools, including the GT 1825, PS 181, HTA 1845, and PS 1815 among others. At 54Wh, it matches the factory voltage rail these tools draw from. Dimensions are 116 x 80.3 x 65mm — same footprint as the OEM unit.
- Comfort series compatibility: These 30+ models share the same 18V platform and battery connector, so one pack covers the full range without adapter or modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran full charge/discharge cycles — the BMS held voltage steady under load and tripped the low-voltage cutoff cleanly before cell damage could occur.
- First charge before use: With Li-ion packs that have sat in storage, run a full charge before the first session — this lets the BMS calibrate state-of-charge accurately from the start.
What the BMS does under load
The battery management system monitors cell temperature, current draw, and voltage in real time. If current spikes — during heavy cutting or thick material — the BMS throttles output before cells are stressed. That protection matters more on garden tools than many users expect, because motors stall and surge repeatedly during normal use.
Tool powers on, then cuts out immediately — here's why
This usually means the BMS is reading the pack as depleted even after a full charge. It happens when cells have drifted out of balance after long storage. The fix is to leave the pack on the charger for a full uninterrupted cycle, then discharge it completely through normal use before charging again. One or two full cycles typically resets the balance and clears the fault.

Frequently Asked Questions
My AL-KO cordless grass trimmer starts fine then suddenly cuts out halfway through the lawn — is that the battery dying or something else?
That cutout pattern on 18V Li-ion garden tools is almost always the battery hitting its thermal protection threshold, not a dead cell — sustained high load on thick or wet grass drives the pack temperature up fast and the BMS shuts it down before damage occurs. Let the battery cool for 15 minutes completely off the tool, then check whether it restarts immediately; if it does, thermal cutoff is your answer. If it won't restart even after cooling, put a multimeter across the terminals — a resting voltage below 15V on an 18V pack means one or more cells have dropped out and the pack won't recover. Run that voltage check first before assuming the tool itself is faulty.
Charged my new AL-KO replacement battery overnight and the trimmer runs but feels weaker than the old one used to — cuts are ragged and the motor sounds labored
A brand-new Li-ion pack sometimes ships at storage charge (around 50%) and needs two or three full charge-discharge cycles before the cells balance and deliver full capacity. We saw this on the bench with 18V garden tool packs — first-cycle output can measure noticeably lower under load than the same pack after conditioning. Run it until the low-battery indicator triggers, charge it fully, and repeat that cycle twice more before drawing any conclusions about performance. If the motor still sounds labored after conditioning, check that the battery is seated flush and the terminal contacts on the tool are clean and making solid contact — a partial connection causes exactly that sluggish, ragged behavior.
AL-KO battery won't click into my Comfort PS 181 — it goes partway in but won't lock and the tool won't power on
The Comfort PS 181 uses a slide-rail latch system and the most common cause of a partial fit is debris or dried grass sap packed into the battery slot rails — it stops the pack 3–5mm short of the contact position and the latch tab can't engage. Clear the slot with a dry brush, check that nothing is bent on the battery's guide tabs, and try the seating again with firm, straight pressure rather than angling it in. If the pack still won't lock, compare the physical dimensions of the replacement against the original — the correct replacement for this model should measure 116mm × 80mm × 65mm, and an out-of-spec housing will block seating regardless of how hard you push.
