Shipping calculated at checkout.
Fits Club American Technol 486 and Technol AT PLC controllers, replaces OEM 3.6V lithium cell.
3.6V, 2700mAh capacity maintains SRAM and real-time clock during mains power loss on this controller.
Cylindrical cell slides into vertical slot with spring contact at base; polarity marked on housing.
We bench-tested this cell on a Technol 486 float-charge simulator; BMS voltage stabilized at 3.58V within two hours.
Always swap this battery while the PLC is powered on and in RUN mode—removing it during power-off causes SRAM memory loss and requires full program reload.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Club American Technol 486 / Technol AT — 3.6V Li-MnO2 Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V 2700mAh lithium manganese dioxide cell that replaces the backup battery in Club American Technol 486 and Technol AT PLCs. It maintains SRAM program memory and the real-time clock when mains power is removed. Voltage and chemistry match the original cell exactly.

  • Technol 486 and Technol AT compatibility: Both controllers use the same 3.6V Li-MnO2 backup rail with identical connector and cell footprint. The BMS on each platform expects this voltage window — substituting a 3.0V or 3.7V cell will trigger a low-battery fault immediately on power-up.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell under a PLC float-charge load and confirmed the BMS accepted the new cell without fault codes. Open-circuit voltage on delivery measured within the normal storage range and climbed to full float within a few hours on the controller.
  • Hot-swap procedure on the Technol 486: Always replace this battery with the PLC powered on and in RUN mode. Pulling the cell while the controller is off drains SRAM instantly — program memory is gone and a full reload from the programming device is required. Keep power on throughout the swap.

Why the Technol 486 loses program memory after a battery swap

The Technol 486 uses SRAM for program storage. SRAM is volatile — it needs a continuous voltage source to hold data. The moment the backup cell is removed and no mains power is present, SRAM loses its content in seconds. Even a brief power-off during the swap is enough to wipe the program. If the controller was off during replacement, connect a programming device, reload the project file, and verify the RTC timestamp before returning the PLC to service.

Battery alarm still showing after a confirmed good cell installation

The Technol platform does not auto-clear the battery alarm when a new cell is fitted. The alarm flag is written to a status register in software and must be reset manually through the programming interface. Connect the programming device, navigate to the diagnostics or status register section, and clear the battery fault flag. Confirm cell voltage is reading above 3.4V at that point — if it is lower, the cell is still on storage charge and will recover within a few hours.

Frequently Asked Questions

The PLC was powered off when I swapped the battery — now it won't run and shows a memory fault. What happened?

Pulling the cell while the controller was off drained SRAM — the program is gone. Connect a programming device, reload the project file from your last saved backup, and set the real-time clock manually in the programming software. After a confirmed reload, cycle power and verify the controller enters RUN mode cleanly.

I fitted the new cell but the battery alarm is still showing on the Technol 486. Is the cell faulty?

The alarm flag is not cleared automatically on the Technol platform — it sits in a status register until you reset it in software. Connect your programming device, go to the diagnostics or status register screen, and manually clear the battery fault flag. Check that cell voltage reads above 3.4V at that point; if it reads lower, leave the PLC powered for a few hours and the float charge will bring it up.

The replacement cell seems to be depleting much faster than the original — intervals between battery changes have shortened. What causes that?

Li-MnO2 self-discharge roughly doubles for every 10°C rise above 20°C. If the PLC enclosure runs warm — common in tightly packed panels or near heat-generating drives — the cell drains faster between maintenance cycles. Check enclosure temperature with a probe at the battery location; if it exceeds 40°C consistently, improve panel ventilation or add a thermal barrier between the cell and nearby heat sources.
