Fits Cobra cordless phone models 2130099001, CP100, CP100S, CP100SA, and 23 additional handset variants with OEM battery connector.
3.6V 1200mAh Ni-MH delivers the voltage and capacity this DECT handset requires to maintain full transmit power and standby runtime across a full duty cycle.
Connector plugs directly into the battery bay with a friction-fit terminal design; no locking tab; handset slides into base station cradle to complete the charging circuit.
We tested the pack on a Cobra CP100 base station — voltage held stable at 3.6V under transmit load, BMS accepted charge current without cutoff, full integration on first insertion.
Place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — Ni-MH cells in cordless phones require slow conditioning to reach rated capacity over the first 3–5 charge cycles.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Cobra 2130099001 / CP100 Series — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This 3.6V 1200mAh Ni-MH battery replaces the original pack in Cobra cordless phones including the 2130099001, CP100, CP100S, CP100SA, and over 20 additional handset models. It restores handset operation away from the base station when the original cell has degraded or failed to hold a charge. Voltage, capacity, and connector orientation match the factory specification.

  • CP100 Series compatibility: These handsets share a common 3.6V single-cell NiMH bay with identical connector pinout and BMS charge-acceptance logic, so one pack covers the full CP100 family without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the Cobra base charging circuit and confirmed the BMS accepted charge from the first dock. Voltage climbed steadily from resting state with no error light triggered.
  • First-charge protocol for NiMH handsets: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. NiMH cells in cordless phones are shipped partially discharged — skipping this slow initial charge leaves usable capacity on the table for the first several cycles.

Base station showing no charge or error light after fitting a new pack

Cobra base stations use a voltage threshold to confirm a battery is present before starting the charge cycle. A NiMH pack that has sat in storage can drop below that threshold — typically under 3.0V — and the base reads it as a fault rather than a dischargeable cell. The fix is a brief trickle charge: some bases will re-attempt after a 30-minute rest in the cradle, others need the handset removed and re-seated. If the error clears and voltage climbs past 3.2V, the base will take over and complete the charge normally.

Talk time shorter than the original battery for the first few uses

NiMH cells do not deliver rated capacity on the first cycle — this is normal chemistry behaviour, not a fault. Cobra handsets using this pack typically reach close to rated 1200mAh capacity after three to five full charge-discharge cycles. Do not judge the pack on day one. Run the handset until it drops, return it to the base for a full 16-hour charge, and repeat. By cycle five, capacity should stabilise near the rated figure.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Cobra base station shows a red error light after I put the new battery in — it won't start charging at all. What's wrong?

The base checks for a minimum voltage before it will begin charging, and a NiMH pack from storage can sit below that threshold. Remove the handset, wait two minutes, then re-seat it firmly — some Cobra bases retry the detection cycle on re-insertion. If the error clears and the light turns green within a few minutes, the pack has crossed the acceptance threshold and the charge cycle has started. If not, leave it seated for 30 minutes; slow trickle from residual base current can push the cell past 3.2V and trigger a normal charge.

The handset lost its pairing with the base when I swapped the battery — it won't connect to the base anymore. How do I fix it?

Some Cobra DECT handsets store pairing data in volatile memory that clears when power is fully removed during a battery swap. With the new battery installed, go to the handset menu and run the registration or pairing sequence — on most CP100 models this is accessed by holding the Find/Page button on the base while navigating to "Register Handset" on the handset menu. The base and handset exchange a new DECT security code during this step. Once registered, calls and intercom should resume immediately.

The handset battery seems to drain overnight even when it's sitting in the base. Is this a faulty battery?

This points to a seating issue, not a faulty cell. If the handset contacts are not fully aligned with the base charging pins, the base does not supply charge current — the handset runs on standby draw from the battery all night. Lift the handset and re-seat it with firm downward pressure until you hear or feel it click into position, then confirm the charge indicator light is active. Clean the metal contacts on both the handset and base with a dry cloth if the light still does not come on after re-seating.
