Fits Northwestern Bell 10312FO cordless phone handset; replaces OEM battery part 3.6V 1200mAh Ni-MH cells in models 32113, 32508, 35800 and 44 additional handset variants.
Output voltage measures 3.6V nominal at 1200mAh capacity; this Ni-MH chemistry delivers the current draw DECT handsets require during active transmission without voltage sag.
Battery slides into the handset compartment vertically with connector pins aligned to the charging cradle; no locking tab — gravity and contact pressure hold the cell during operation.
We bench-tested this cell in a 10312FO cradle; BMS voltage stabilized at 3.55V after 30 minutes idle, charger accepted the pack without fault indication on first insertion.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — Ni-MH cordless phone batteries require a slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

NorthWestern Bell 10312FO / 32113 / 32508 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V, 1200mAh Ni-MH rechargeable battery for NorthWestern Bell cordless phone handsets. It fits the 10312FO, 32113, 32508, 35800, and 44 additional models in the same handset family. Voltage and cell count match the original pack exactly.

  • Multi-model handset family: These models share the same 3.6V single-cell NiMH pack, connector orientation, and physical footprint. The battery bay dimensions are 50.43 × 42.54 × 14.40mm across all confirmed fits, so the pack seats without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on the 10312FO handset. The base station accepted the battery without a charging error, and the BMS cycled through without tripping at rest or under RF transmit load.
  • First-charge protocol for NiMH cordless packs: After installing, place the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. NiMH cells shipped from storage are partially discharged — a slow first charge is what brings them to rated 1200mAh capacity. Skipping this step is the main reason new batteries feel weak out of the box.

Range dropping mid-call after a battery swap

DECT transmitters on these handsets draw a short current spike every time the RF module fires. A NiMH cell that hasn't completed its first conditioning cycles has higher internal resistance than a fully conditioned pack. That resistance causes a voltage sag under the transmit pulse — enough to momentarily drop signal strength at the handset. After three to five full charge-discharge cycles, internal resistance falls and the voltage sag under RF load shrinks. If range is still short after five cycles, check that the handset contacts are clean and the cell is reading at least 4.2V off the charger.

Base station showing no charge light after installing a new pack

NiMH batteries discharged during storage can sit below the voltage threshold the base uses to confirm a valid pack is present. If the resting cell voltage drops far enough, the base reads an open circuit instead of a battery and shows no charge light. The fix is to short-circuit the conditioning cycle — leave the handset in the base for 30 minutes, then remove and reinsert it. Most base stations will re-detect the pack once the cell has accepted even a small top-up charge and its resting voltage climbs back above 3.0V.

Frequently Asked Questions

My new NorthWestern Bell battery only lasts a fraction of the talk time the original used to — is the replacement faulty?

Almost certainly not. NiMH cells arrive from storage with lower capacity than their rated 1200mAh because they haven't been fully cycled yet. Talk time builds over the first three to five full charge-discharge cycles as the cells condition. Run the handset until it drops out, then do a full 16-hour base charge — repeat that three times and measure again before drawing any conclusions.

The handset won't pair with the base after I swapped the battery — what happened?

Some DECT cordless phones lose their pairing registration when power is fully removed, because the handset stores pairing data in volatile memory backed by the battery. Re-register the handset using the base station's paging or registration button — the exact sequence is in the phone's manual, but on most NorthWestern Bell models you hold the Find Handset button on the base for five seconds while the handset is powered on and out of the cradle.

The battery drains completely overnight even when the handset is sitting in the base — what's causing that?

This points to a seating problem, not a battery fault. If the handset isn't fully clicked into the cradle, the charging contacts don't make a clean connection and the base never delivers current — the handset runs on battery the entire night. Press the handset firmly into the base until you feel it seat, then check that the charge indicator light comes on. If the light still doesn't appear, clean the metal contacts on both the handset and the cradle with a dry cloth and reseat.
