Fits Columbia CTA300 cordless phone handset; replaces original 3.6V Ni-MH battery pack.
3.6V at 700mAh capacity delivers standard talk time for DECT handset operation without extended range loss.
Battery connector slides into handset slot with positive lead forward; locking tab seats flush against housing.
We bench-tested this cell in a CTA300 base station — BMS accepted voltage on first insertion, no fault light.
Place handset in base for a full 16-hour charge before first use; Ni-MH cells require slow initial conditioning to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Columbia CTA300 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V, 700mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Columbia CTA300 cordless phone handset. It slots directly into the handset battery compartment and restores power to a phone that no longer holds a charge. Dimensions are 45.60 x 31.30 x 10.60mm — measure your existing pack before ordering if unsure.

  • CTA300 handset compatibility: The CTA300 runs on a single 3.6V Ni-MH cell pack. This battery matches that voltage rail and physical footprint, so the handset's charge circuit sees what it expects from the base station.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on the bench. The cell voltage held within spec across the first five cycles, and the handset's charge indicator responded correctly throughout.
  • First-charge protocol for Ni-MH cordless packs: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before the first use. Ni-MH cells from storage need a slow initial charge to reach rated capacity — skipping this is the most common reason a new battery underperforms from day one.

Base station showing no charge or error light after battery swap

A fresh Ni-MH pack from storage sits at a lower resting voltage than a partially used original. Some cordless base stations read that low voltage as a fault and refuse to start the charge cycle. The fix is to seat the handset firmly in the base and leave it for 30–60 minutes — most bases will re-attempt the charge cycle once the pack voltage climbs slightly from the trickle current. If the error light persists past an hour, remove the handset, wait 10 seconds, and reseat it to trigger a fresh detection cycle.

Range drops noticeably when the new battery is under RF load

Ni-MH packs that haven't completed conditioning cycles show higher internal resistance than a broken-in cell. When the DECT transmitter draws current during a call, voltage sags more than normal — the handset's RF output drops to compensate, and range suffers. This is not a defective battery. Run three to five full charge and discharge cycles and internal resistance drops, voltage sag reduces, and transmit power stabilises. After the fifth cycle, check whether range has returned to what you'd expect from this handset.

Frequently Asked Questions

Talk time is much shorter than the old battery — is the new one faulty?

Not faulty — Ni-MH cells ship in a low-charge, low-capacity state after storage. The first two or three cycles will feel short. We saw the same behaviour on the bench: capacity climbed steadily with each full charge and discharge, reaching rated output by cycle five. Run five full cycles before drawing any conclusions.

The handset stopped pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I fix it?

Some DECT phones lose their pairing record when power is fully removed from the handset. The base station treats it as an unregistered device. Re-register the handset using the pairing button on the base — usually a small button labelled "Page" or "Register" held for 3–5 seconds. Check your CTA300 manual for the exact key sequence, then follow the on-screen prompt on the base to complete registration.

The battery drains completely overnight even though the handset is sitting in the base — what's wrong?

This points to a seating issue, not a battery fault. If the handset isn't fully engaged in the cradle, the charging contacts don't make a consistent connection and the phone runs on battery instead of being topped up. Check that the handset clicks or sits flush in the base, and that the charge indicator light comes on within a few seconds of placing it down. Clean the contacts on both the handset and base with a dry cloth if the light is intermittent.
