Fits Compaq Business Notebook nc2400, 2400, and 2510p models; replaces EH768UT, HSTNN-DB23, HSTNN-FB21, and nine other OEM part numbers.
10.8V and 6600mAh capacity match the original; this 71.28Wh output sustains the nc2400 CPU and display under full load without voltage sag.
Connector seats into the nc2400 battery bay with a single locking tab; orientation is keyed — the pack slides straight in and locks flush.
We ran a full charge cycle on a test nc2400; the BMS accepted input current cleanly, held 10.8V under 3A discharge, and cut at the firmware threshold.
After installation, run one full discharge to hibernation cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this resets the nc2400 BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the incorrect health warning that appears after every cell swap.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Compaq Business Notebook nc2400 — 10.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (EH768UT)

This is a 10.8V, 6600mAh (71.28Wh) Li-ion battery for the Compaq Business Notebook nc2400, 2400, and 2510p. It replaces OEM part numbers including EH768UT, 484784-001, HSTNN-DB23, and HSTNN-DB22, among others. The cell fits the standard battery bay and connects through the same multi-pin interface as the original pack.

  • nc2400, 2400, and 2510p compatibility: These three models share the same 10.8V battery rail, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol. One cell covers all three without any adapter or modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on an nc2400 and monitored the BMS handshake through full charge and discharge cycles. The protection circuit responded correctly to overcurrent, over-voltage, and thermal events at each stage.
  • First-cycle calibration on the nc2400: After installing this battery, run a full discharge to the hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after a cell swap.

BIOS reporting poor battery health after installing this cell

The nc2400 BIOS stores battery health data in EEPROM and compares it against readings from the previous cell. When a new cell is installed, the EEPROM data no longer matches the actual cell state, so the BIOS flags it as degraded. This is not a fault with the replacement battery. Running a full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% triggers the BIOS learn cycle, which rewrites the EEPROM reference values against the new cell. After one or two completed cycles, the health indicator will update to reflect the actual cell condition.

nc2400 shutting down at 20–30% charge shown on the gauge

This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated against the new cell's actual discharge curve. The gauge over-reports remaining capacity, and when the real cell voltage drops below the safe threshold under CPU and display load, the laptop cuts out before the display reaches 0%. The fix is to complete two or three full discharge-to-hibernate and full-charge cycles without interrupting the charge. After calibration, the gauge tracks the voltage cliff accurately and the premature shutdowns stop. Confirm the cell voltage reads at least 10.4V under load before trusting the gauge percentage.

Frequently Asked Questions

The nc2400 BIOS says the battery is "unknown" or shows 0% right after I installed the new cell — is it defective?

This is an EEPROM mismatch, not a defective cell. The BIOS holds reference data from the old battery and cannot yet interpret the new cell's state. Run a full discharge to the hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. One complete cycle rewrites the BIOS learn cycle data and clears the unknown status.

Windows shows a wildly different Wh rating for this battery than what was listed — why doesn't it match?

The Wh figure Windows reports is pulled from the EEPROM on the battery controller, which stores the rated value from the original cell design. The new cell's actual chemistry may report a slightly different figure until the fuel gauge IC completes calibration cycles. This is a data mismatch between stored EEPROM values and measured cell output — not a capacity defect. Run two full discharge-and-charge cycles and the reported Wh will stabilise against the actual cell.

My nc2400 stops charging at around 80% and won't go higher — is the replacement cell faulty?

Check the BIOS power settings first. The nc2400 BIOS includes a charge limit option that caps charging at 80% to reduce cell wear — it applies to any battery in the slot, including a new replacement. Go into BIOS setup, navigate to the Power Management or Battery Care section, and confirm the charge ceiling is set to 100%. If no limit is set there, discharge the pack below 20% and attempt a full charge again to rule out a fuel gauge IC stall.
