Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Compaq Presario CQ35-100 Series — 10.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (HSTNN-C54C)
This 10.8V, 4400mAh (47.52Wh) Li-ion battery replaces the original HSTNN-C54C and cross-references including 530801-001, HSTNN-IB82, HSTNN-LB93, and RT09. It fits the Compaq Presario CQ35-100 series and over 96 related CQ35 variants. The connector, voltage rail, and BMS communication profile match the OEM specification for this notebook line.
- CQ35 series fit: The CQ35-100 through CQ35-102 and related TU/TX models share the same 10.8V three-cell-pair Li-ion architecture, identical bottom-panel connector pinout, and the same BMS handshake protocol — which is why one part number covers the full range.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge, idle draw, and sustained CPU-plus-display load. The BMS held the charge cutoff correctly at full capacity and did not trip on the CQ35's moderate power draw profile.
- Post-install calibration cycle: After fitting, run the laptop on battery until it hibernates at low charge, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the false "poor health" warning that appears in HP Support Assistant after any cell swap on this platform.
Why the CQ35 BIOS reports a new battery as degraded or unknown
The CQ35 platform reads EEPROM data embedded in the battery pack to calculate health percentage. When a new cell arrives, that EEPROM reports a factory baseline that does not match the BIOS's stored discharge history from the old pack. The BIOS interprets the mismatch as a worn cell and flags poor health immediately. One full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% gives the BIOS enough data to recalibrate its fuel gauge IC against the new cell's actual capacity curve.
Laptop shuts down at 20–30% charge shown on screen
This is a voltage cliff, not a capacity problem. Under combined CPU and display load, the cell voltage drops faster than the fuel gauge IC predicts — the BIOS triggers an emergency shutdown before the percentage reaches zero. It happens most often in the first few cycles before calibration. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate cycles charged back to 100% each time, and confirm the battery voltage under load reads above 10.0V using HWMonitor or BatteryInfoView.

Frequently Asked Questions
My CQ35 shows the new battery as 0% or "unknown" in Windows — did I get a faulty pack?
The pack is not faulty. The fuel gauge IC in the CQ35 platform loses its reference point when the old cell is removed and cannot read the new cell's EEPROM until it runs a learn cycle. Charge the battery to 100%, disconnect the AC adapter, and let the laptop run until it hibernates on its own. Reconnect the charger and charge back to 100% without interruption — after one full cycle, Windows will display the correct percentage.
Windows Battery Report is showing the wrong Wh rating — it says something different from the 47.52Wh on the product listing.
The Wh figure in Windows Battery Report is pulled from the EEPROM on the cell, which stores a rated design capacity that can differ slightly from the actual chemistry tested at the bench. This is an EEPROM data difference, not a hardware fault. After two full calibration cycles — discharge to hibernate, charge uninterrupted to 100% — the reported full-charge capacity in Battery Report will converge closer to the actual 47.52Wh figure.
The CQ35 charges the new battery fine but HP Support Assistant keeps flagging it as needing replacement.
HP Support Assistant on this platform reads the BIOS battery health score, which is calculated from the old pack's discharge history stored in firmware — not from the new cell's actual performance. The score does not reset automatically on a cell swap. Run one full discharge-to-hibernate cycle then charge uninterrupted to 100% to force the BIOS learn cycle to update. After the cycle completes, reopen HP Support Assistant and run the battery check again — the flag clears once the BIOS has a fresh discharge dataset.
