Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

HP Mini 311 Series — 10.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (HSTNN-UB0N)
This is a 10.8V, 6600mAh Li-ion battery for the HP Mini 311 netbook. It replaces OEM part numbers HSTNN-UB0N, HSTNN-OB0N, HSTNN-IB0N, HSTNN-Q44C, HSTNN-Q45C, 572831-541, 580029-001, and related variants. It fits the Mini 311 base model and confirmed variants including the 311-1007TU, 311-1008TU, and 311-1012TU.
- Mini 311 platform fit: All Mini 311 variants run the same 10.8V three-cell battery rail with an identical connector and BMS handshake protocol. The HSTNN-UB0N family covers the full production run because HP used one battery specification across all regional SKUs in this series.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on a Mini 311 unit and monitored BMS communication through a full charge and load cycle. The BMS authenticated without error codes, charge current tapered correctly at the top of the curve, and the cell held voltage under sustained CPU and display load.
- Post-install calibration on the Mini 311: After fitting this battery, run one full discharge to the hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without unplugging. This forces the BIOS to complete a battery learn cycle against the new cell and clears the inaccurate health warning that otherwise appears after every cell swap on this platform.
Why the Mini 311 BIOS flags a new battery as poor health
The HP Mini 311 stores battery health data in the EEPROM of the original cell. When you swap to a new cell, the BIOS reads zero charge history and flags the battery as degraded or unknown — even though the new cell is at full capacity. This is a data mismatch, not a fault. Running two to three full discharge-and-charge cycles gives the fuel gauge IC enough data to recalibrate against the new cell's actual voltage curve and clear the warning.
Mini 311 shutting down at 20–30% charge shown on screen
This happens when the cell voltage drops below the BMS cutoff threshold before the fuel gauge shows empty — a voltage cliff under combined CPU and display load. The OS fuel gauge is interpolating from the old cell's discharge curve, so the percentage reading is wrong at the bottom end. It is not a fault with the new cell; it is the fuel gauge IC still running stale calibration data. After two full discharge-to-cutoff cycles, the gauge reanchors to the new cell and the shutdowns stop.

Frequently Asked Questions
The HP Mini 311 shows the new battery as 0% or "unknown" immediately after fitting — is the cell dead?
No. The Mini 311 BIOS reads health data from the EEPROM stored on the original cell. A fresh cell has no history, so the BIOS flags it as unknown or 0% until the fuel gauge IC builds a calibration baseline. Plug in the charger, let it charge fully to 100% uninterrupted, then run one full discharge to hibernate cutoff. After that cycle the BIOS re-reads the cell correctly and the unknown status clears.
Windows is reporting the wrong Wh rating in the battery report after fitting this cell — it shows a lower design capacity than the label says.
The Wh figure in Windows Battery Report pulls from the EEPROM data embedded in the new cell, not from the physical chemistry. If the EEPROM was programmed to a different rated Wh value than the label, the report will show a mismatch. This does not affect actual charge capacity — the cell still delivers its full 6600mAh. Run two full calibration cycles and check the Full Charge Capacity line in the report; that number will converge toward 71Wh as the fuel gauge IC logs real charge data.
The Mini 311 fuel gauge is wildly inaccurate for the first few days — jumping from 60% to 10% with no warning.
The fuel gauge IC on this platform estimates remaining charge by tracking voltage curves from the previous cell. A new cell has a different voltage-to-capacity slope, so the IC's predictions are off until it collects enough real discharge data. The gauge recalibrates over two to three full discharge-and-charge cycles as it maps the actual curve. After the third cycle, charge the battery to 100% and verify the gauge holds within a few percent at the halfway point under normal screen brightness and load.
