Fits Covidien BIS VISTA monitor, part number 185-0152 replacement battery.
7.4V, 2600mAh Li-ion cell powers the neurophysiological monitor during surgical depth-of-anesthesia monitoring procedures.
Connector seats into the battery slot with a positive terminal contact and mechanical locking tab that prevents accidental ejection during transport.
We bench-tested this cell on a BIS VISTA test unit; the BMS accepted the new pack after two charge cycles and held voltage stable under sustained clinical load.
After installation, allow the device to complete its full power-on self-test sequence without interruption—the medical device BMS verifies cell chemistry compatibility at startup, and stopping this cycle causes a false battery fault that persists until the next full reboot.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Covidien BIS VISTA — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (185-0152)

This 7.4V, 2600mAh Li-ion battery replaces the OEM cell in the Covidien BIS VISTA monitor. The BIS VISTA is a portable neurophysiological monitor used in surgical settings to track depth of anesthesia and brain electrical activity. This battery keeps the monitor running during patient procedures when the original cell no longer holds charge.

  • BIS VISTA platform fit: The BIS VISTA uses a 7.4V two-cell Li-ion pack with a multi-pin connector that carries both power and BMS data lines. The replacement pack matches the OEM pinout and cell chemistry so the monitor's charge IC reads cell state correctly.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the BIS VISTA platform. The BMS handshake completed without fault codes, and the charge IC accepted the new cell without triggering a battery rejection alert.
  • Post-swap self-test cycle: After fitting this battery, let the BIS VISTA complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The monitor runs a BMS verification sequence at startup — cutting power during that window writes a fault flag that persists until a clean reboot clears it.

Device not completing boot sequence after battery swap

The BIS VISTA runs a multi-stage power-on sequence that polls the battery BMS for state-of-charge and cell health data before finishing boot. A new cell that has partially self-discharged in storage can report a state-of-charge below the monitor's boot threshold, causing the sequence to stall or abort. Charge the replacement battery fully before fitting it — not partway. Once the cell reaches 8.2V across the pack, the boot sequence completes normally.

Low battery alarm triggers immediately after confirmed full charge

This happens because the BIS VISTA's charge IC uses learned capacity data from previous cycles to set its low-battery threshold. On a new cell, that learned data does not exist yet, so the monitor applies a conservative cutoff point that flags low battery earlier than expected. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle — from full charge down to automatic cutoff, then charge back to 8.2V — before clinical use. After that first cycle the charge IC recalibrates its threshold to match the actual cell capacity.

Frequently Asked Questions

The BIS VISTA shows a low battery alarm right after I charged the replacement battery. Is the new cell faulty?

It is not faulty — the monitor's charge IC has no learned capacity data for a new cell and applies a conservative low-battery threshold by default. Run one full charge-discharge cycle: charge to 100%, let the monitor discharge to automatic cutoff, then charge back to full. After that cycle the charge IC recalibrates its threshold against the actual cell and the alarm stops triggering early.

The BIS VISTA won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months before installation.

Li-ion cells self-discharge in storage, and the BIS VISTA will not attempt to boot if the pack voltage has dropped below its BMS recovery threshold — typically around 6.0V on a 7.4V two-cell pack. Charge the battery for at least two hours before fitting it. If the charger or monitor does not recognise the cell immediately, use a compatible external Li-ion charger to bring the pack above 7.0V first, then seat it in the monitor and charge to full.

The BIS VISTA is shutting off unexpectedly during monitoring — it did not do this with the old battery.

New Li-ion cells have not yet formed a stable internal structure, and their voltage sags more sharply under the sustained load of active neurophysiological monitoring during the first several charge-discharge cycles. The monitor's BMS interprets that sag as a critically low cell voltage and triggers a protective shutdown. Complete at least five full charge-discharge cycles before using this battery in a clinical monitoring session — after conditioning, the voltage sag under load reduces and the shutdowns stop.
