Fits Philips SureSigns VM1, VS2+, and VSi portable monitors; replaces OEM part 863266.
11.1V, 2600mAh lithium-ion cell delivers full charge capacity across the VM1's vital sign display cycle.
Connector seats into the VM1 battery slot with a positive terminal alignment — no adapter needed.
We bench-tested this cell on VM1 hardware; BMS accepted the new pack after one complete charge cycle.
Allow the monitor to finish its power-on self-test without interruption after installation — the device validates BMS compatibility during startup, and stopping this cycle triggers a false battery fault.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Philips SureSigns VM1 / VS2+ — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery (863266)

This 11.1V, 2600mAh lithium-ion battery replaces OEM part 863266 in the Philips SureSigns VM1 portable patient monitor. It also fits the Vsi, VS2+, and VS1 monitor platforms that share the same battery bay and connector. Capacity matches the original 28.86Wh specification from Philips product data.

  • VM1 / VS2+ platform compatibility: These monitors share a common 11.1V three-cell architecture, the same physical connector, and a BMS handshake protocol tied to the SureSigns power management rail. A single battery spec covers all listed variants without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through full charge and controlled discharge on a VM1 unit. The onboard BMS accepted the cell stack, completed charge termination normally, and reported state of charge accurately across the test cycle.
  • Post-swap self-test protocol: After installing this battery, allow the VM1 to complete its full power-on self-test sequence without interruption. The device runs BMS verification at startup — cutting power during this window registers a false battery fault that persists until the next complete reboot.

VM1 not completing boot sequence on a new battery

The SureSigns VM1 runs a BMS learn cycle during its first few charge-discharge passes. On a fresh cell, the monitor's charge IC applies a conservative initial limit, which can cause the boot sequence to stall or report a battery fault before the cell has been conditioned. This is not a fault with the battery or the monitor. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle before placing the unit in clinical rotation — the BMS will calibrate its state-of-charge model and boot normally from that point forward.

Charge indicator not reaching 100% on the first charge cycle

This happens because the VM1's charge IC applies a tighter termination threshold on cells it hasn't yet profiled. The indicator may plateau at 95–98% and stay there. This is a firmware-level behaviour in the SureSigns charge controller, not a capacity defect. After one full cycle — charge to cutoff, discharge under normal monitor load, recharge to cutoff — the indicator will read accurately. Do not interrupt the second charge cycle early.

Frequently Asked Questions

The VM1 is alarming low battery immediately after a confirmed full charge — why?

The SureSigns BMS sets its low-battery alarm threshold against an OEM cell chemistry profile stored in firmware. A new replacement cell hasn't yet completed a learn cycle, so the BMS can't accurately read state of charge and trips the alarm prematurely. This resolves after one full charge-discharge cycle. Charge the battery to cutoff, run the monitor on battery power until it drops to the low-battery threshold naturally, then recharge fully — the BMS recalibrates and the alarm clears.

The VM1 won't power on at all after the battery sat unused for several months — is the battery dead?

Extended storage causes lithium-ion cells to self-discharge below the BMS recovery threshold, at which point the protection circuit opens and blocks output. The monitor sees zero voltage and won't boot. Connect the battery to the VM1 with mains power attached and leave it for 30–60 minutes — the charger trickle-charges the cell back above the recovery threshold (typically around 9V for an 11.1V pack), the BMS closes, and the device powers on normally.

The VM1 shuts off unexpectedly during patient monitoring — what's causing it?

In the first 10 cycles, a new lithium-ion cell has higher internal resistance than a fully conditioned pack. Under the VM1's real-time monitoring load — particularly during simultaneous ECG, SpO2, and NIBP acquisition — voltage sag across that resistance can briefly dip below the BMS undervoltage cutoff, triggering an unexpected shutdown. This is not a defective battery. Each conditioning cycle lowers internal resistance; by cycle 10, the pack handles the full monitoring load without cutoff. Complete the conditioning cycles before assigning the unit to unsupervised bedside use.
