New Li-ion cells run warmer and show greater voltage sag under load in the first 10 cycles as the electrolyte fully wets the electrode surfaces. The SCD 700 applies a sustained pulsed load during compression cycles, and the device's under-voltage protection trips if cell voltage dips below the cutoff threshold during a high-demand pulse. This is most common in cycles one through five on a fresh cell. SCD 700 sat unused for four months and now won't power on at all after fitting the replacement battery.

Li-ion cells self-discharge at roughly 2–3% per month in storage, and if the pack dropped below the BMS recovery threshold (typically around 2.5V per cell, or 7.5V total for a 3S pack) before installation, the BMS enters deep-discharge lockout and refuses to accept a charge. Connect the battery to the SCD 700 charger and leave it for a full 12-hour charge without interruption — most BMS firmware includes a slow pre-charge trickle recovery mode that will bring the cell voltage back above the lockout threshold before switching to normal CC/CV charging. If the charge indicator does not show any activity after 30 minutes, the pack has gone below the point of BMS recovery.
