Charger not recognising this pack after storage
Ni-MH cells self-discharge over storage — a pack sitting unused for several months can drop below the voltage floor the charger uses to confirm a valid battery is present. The Craftsman 12V charger typically requires the pack to present above roughly 7–8V to begin a charge cycle; below that, it may blink an error or do nothing. To recover the pack, try a compatible Ni-MH charger with a manual or "recovery" mode that forces a low-current trickle until the pack rises above acceptance voltage. Once the pack reads above 10V, the standard charger should take over normally.

If it keeps tripping, check the battery contacts for corrosion — even 0.1Ω of added contact resistance worsens the voltage sag at that inrush moment.
The drill feels weak and bogs down mid-hole even though the battery shows a full charge — what's happening?
This is voltage sag under load, not a capacity problem. High contact resistance between the battery terminals and the tool's battery bay prevents the full current from reaching the motor, causing the voltage rail to drop and the motor to lose torque. Pull the pack, clean both the battery contacts and the tool bay contacts with a dry cloth or a pencil eraser, then reseat firmly. If the bog persists after cleaning, measure the pack voltage under load — it should stay above 10.5V during drilling; a drop below 9V under moderate load points to cell degradation.
The 315.11538 drill runs fine indoors but cuts out quickly when I use it outside in cold weather — normal?

Avoid leaving the pack in an unheated vehicle overnight before a cold-weather job.
