Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Crestron ST-1500 / STX-3500C Series — 4.8V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (ST-BP)
This is a 4.8V, 3500mAh Ni-MH battery pack replacing OEM part ST-BP. It fits the Crestron ST-1500, ST-1550C, STX-1600, and STX-3500C wireless remotes — the handheld controllers used to manage Crestron home automation and AV systems. Voltage and cell count match the original pack exactly.
- ST-1500 / STX series shared battery platform: These four models run the same 4.8V four-cell Ni-MH pack with the same connector and physical footprint. Crestron standardised the battery format across this controller generation, so one part number covers all four remotes listed.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a ST-1500 unit and confirmed the battery charges to full capacity without the remote flagging a low-battery condition prematurely. IR output held consistent across the full discharge curve.
- Multi-cell pack replacement rule: This is a sealed four-cell pack — install it as a complete unit and do not attempt to replace individual cells inside it. Splitting the pack voids the cell balance and causes uneven discharge between cells, which shortens total pack life faster than normal cycling would.
Why the ST-1500 stops responding mid-session on a partially charged pack
Ni-MH cells have a steeper voltage drop near the end of discharge than alkaline cells do. The ST-1500 draws a short, high-current burst every time it fires an IR command. When the pack voltage dips below roughly 4.2V under that burst load, the remote's controller can reset or drop the transmission entirely — even if the battery indicator hasn't flagged low yet. This is a load-response issue, not a firmware fault. Swapping to a fresh pack resolves it immediately.
ST-1500 shows full charge but IR range drops noticeably
Ni-MH packs that have been shallow-cycled over many months develop reduced capacity through a process called voltage depression — the pack measures near-full but can't sustain the current the IR LEDs need at distance. The remote works up close because the receiver is more forgiving at short range, but the LED output is still below its rated drive level. A full discharge-recharge cycle on the new pack will recondition the cells and restore normal output. Charge the ST-BP pack fully before first use to establish a clean capacity baseline.

Frequently Asked Questions
I installed the new ST-BP battery and the ST-1500 remote does absolutely nothing — no indicator light, no response at all. What's wrong?
The most likely cause is reversed polarity on the connector. The ST-BP pack uses a keyed connector, but it can be forced in the wrong orientation if the locking tab isn't fully seated. Remove the pack, check that the red wire aligns with the positive terminal marked inside the battery bay, and reseat it until you hear a click. If the remote still doesn't respond after that, hold any button for ten seconds to wake the controller from a low-power state before concluding the battery is faulty.
My ST-1550C remote only works if I'm within a metre of the receiver — it used to work from across the room. Is this a battery issue?
Yes. When the pack voltage drops below the minimum IR LED drive threshold, the remote still powers on and shows buttons responding, but the IR burst isn't strong enough to reach the receiver at distance. This is one of the last symptoms before total failure on a depleted Ni-MH pack. Replace the ST-BP pack and the range returns to normal — no receiver or programming change needed.
The new battery drained much faster than the original. What causes that on the STX-1600?
The most common cause is a stuck or partially depressed button creating a continuous IR transmit loop or keeping the controller's processor active instead of sleeping. Run your hand across all the buttons on the STX-1600 to confirm none are physically jammed. If all buttons release cleanly, check whether the remote is stored near something pressing against it — a couch cushion or case is enough. A normally used remote on a fresh ST-BP pack should not require recharging frequently; if it still drains fast after ruling out stuck buttons, measure pack voltage at rest — it should read at or above 4.8V within an hour of a full charge.
