Fits Cub Cadet XR5 4000 and XR5 3000 riding mowers, replaces OEM part 753-11261.
18.5V and 10000mAh delivers enough capacity to complete a full lawn without midrun cutout.
Connector seats flush into the mower's battery slot with a locking tab on the left side.
We bench-tested this cell on the XR5 4000's blade motor under load — BMS held steady, no nuisance trips.
Before first spring use, bring the pack indoors overnight if outdoor temps are below 10°C to prevent cold-start BMS dropout under blade motor inrush.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

CubCadet XR5 4000 / XR5 3000 — 18.5V Li-ion Replacement Battery (753-11261)

This 18.5V lithium-ion battery replaces the original pack on the CubCadet XR5 4000 and XR5 3000 riding lawn mowers. It slots into the same battery bay and connects to the same BMS handshake as the factory unit. Capacity is 10000mAh (185Wh), matching the OEM specification.

  • XR5 4000 and XR5 3000 platform fit: Both models share the same 18.5V battery architecture, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol — which is why one pack covers both. Part numbers 753-11261, 725-17288, 753-11259, 753-11258, and 725-18095 are all cross-referenced to this voltage rail.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through simulated blade-motor inrush loads. The BMS held the connection through the high-current draw at startup and did not trip under sustained mid-range cutting loads.
  • Seasonal storage tip: If your mower sits in an unheated garage through winter, bring the battery indoors the night before your first spring cut. Li-ion cells below 10°C carry higher internal resistance, and the blade motor's inrush current on a cold pack can trip the BMS before the mower even moves.

BMS cutoff under thick or wet grass blade load

When the XR5 hits dense or wet turf, the blade motor pulls a spike of current well above its steady-state draw. If the pack's cells are partially discharged or warm from prior use, the BMS can read that spike as an over-current fault and disconnect the output rail. The mower stops, then resets after a short pause. Keeping the pack above 30% charge before tackling heavy patches significantly reduces the frequency of these trips — the BMS threshold is tighter at lower state of charge.

Charger won't accept the pack after winter storage

A battery left unused over winter can self-discharge below the charger's acceptance threshold — typically around 10–12V per cell group on an 18.5V pack. When the charger sees voltage that low, it reads the pack as faulty and refuses to start a charge cycle. The fix is a slow trickle-recovery charge if your charger supports it, or leaving the pack on the charger for up to 30 minutes — some units will eventually attempt a recovery pulse once the connection stabilises. If the charger still shows a fault light after 30 minutes, check cell voltage across the pack terminals; below 14V total usually means one or more cells have dropped into an unrecoverable range.

Frequently Asked Questions

My XR5 cuts out halfway through a row, then starts again after a minute — what's causing that?

That's the pack's thermal protection tripping, not a fault in the battery itself. The blade motor generates sustained heat in the cells during a long cut, and the BMS shuts the output when cell temperature hits its protection threshold. Let the pack sit for 5 minutes off the mower — the BMS resets once temperature drops. If it trips consistently at the same point in your yard, check whether that section has thicker or damper grass pulling extra motor current.

The pack gets noticeably warm after the first few cuts — is something wrong?

No — this is normal during the first 5 charge and discharge cycles on a new pack. Fresh cells condition through early use, and internal resistance is slightly higher until they've been cycled a handful of times. The heat should reduce after cycle 5. If the pack is still running hot to the touch — not just warm — after 10 cycles, check that the battery bay vents on the mower aren't blocked with grass clippings.

The XR5 cranks sluggishly on the first start of the day when it's cold outside — is the battery faulty?

It's not faulty — it's a known Li-ion behaviour below 10°C. Cold cells have higher internal resistance, so they deliver less peak current during the engine crank. The fix is to bring the battery indoors overnight before an early cold-weather start. Once the pack reaches room temperature, internal resistance drops back to normal and the crank will feel the same as in warmer conditions.
