Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Custom Battery Pack OEM-130 — 1.2V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 1.2V, 2000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery pack for the OEM-130 platform. It matches the original cell chemistry and voltage rail so the host device accepts it without modification. Capacity is rated at 2000mAh (2.4Wh) as specified in the product data.

  • OEM-130 platform fit: Ni-MH cells at 1.2V nominal match the charge curve the OEM-130 charge controller expects. Swapping to a different chemistry or voltage would push the charge IC outside its operating range — this pack stays within spec.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on the bench. The BMS accepted the cells without triggering a protection cutoff, and voltage held steady through the discharge curve with no unexpected sag events.
  • First-cycle calibration on the OEM-130: After swapping this pack in, run one complete charge-discharge cycle before trusting any capacity indicator. The OEM-130's fuel gauge recalibrates against the new cells during that first cycle — skipping it leaves the indicator reading against stale data from the old pack.

Pack running below rated voltage on first use

Ni-MH packs ship at storage voltage, which sits below the 1.2V nominal figure. A freshly installed pack can read as low as 1.0V per cell until it takes its first full charge. This is not a fault — it is the resting state after long shelf storage. Charge the pack fully before drawing any load, and the voltage will rise to nominal.

Pack not reaching full charge on the first cycle

On the first charge cycle, the charge IC often limits current while it characterises the new cells. This can make the pack appear to stop short of full capacity. The behaviour clears after one complete cycle as the charger builds an accurate picture of the cells' impedance. If the pack still falls short after two full cycles, check that the charge contacts on the OEM-130 are clean and making solid contact — resistance at the connector reduces charge current and extends fill time.

Frequently Asked Questions

The OEM-130 won't accept the new pack — it just flashes an error and shuts off. What's wrong?

The OEM-130 runs a voltage range check when a pack is inserted. If the pack shipped at storage voltage, it can fall below the device's acceptance threshold and trigger a rejection error. Put the pack on charge via the OEM charger first, before inserting it into the device. Once it reaches at least 1.1V per cell, the device will clear the error and accept it.

The pack feels warm during the first charge — is something wrong with the cells?

Ni-MH cells generate heat during conditioning, especially on the first charge after a long storage period. Mild warmth during the first cycle is a normal part of the electrochemical activation process, not a sign of failure. If the pack becomes hot to the touch or the charger cuts out early, remove it and check the charge contacts for corrosion or debris. A clean contact surface keeps charge current consistent and prevents thermal spikes.

The capacity indicator on the OEM-130 still shows the old pack's readings after the swap — how do I reset it?

The fuel gauge in the OEM-130 tracks capacity against the cells it last calibrated on. Swapping cells doesn't automatically update that reference — the gauge keeps reading against the previous pack's data. Run one full charge from empty to full without interrupting the cycle. That single calibration cycle resets the gauge baseline to match the 2000mAh cells now installed.
