Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Deity SPD-1 — 14.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This 14.4V 6400mAh (92.16Wh) Li-ion battery replaces the original pack in the Deity SPD-1 portable field recorder. It fits the SPD-1's battery bay directly and matches the original voltage rail. Use it for broadcast, documentary, and field audio/video production sessions where extended off-grid operation is required.
- SPD-1 platform fit: The SPD-1 draws a stable 14.4V supply to power its recording engine and internal storage. This pack matches that voltage rail and uses the same cell configuration, so the BMS handshake completes on boot without triggering a battery-fault flag.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack under sustained recording loads and monitored BMS behaviour through power-on, active logging, and USB data transfer. The BMS held within spec across all three load states without an unexpected cutoff.
- First-use calibration on the SPD-1: After fitting this pack, run a full calibration cycle through the SPD-1's instrument menu before your first field session. The device maps battery state during calibration, and skipping this step causes premature low-battery warnings early in the first recording session.
BMS cutoff when the SPD-1 initialises its recording modules on start-up
When the SPD-1 powers on, its internal recording and storage modules draw a brief current spike as they initialise. If the battery's BMS has a low inrush threshold — common in aged or deeply discharged packs — it interprets that spike as a fault and cuts the output before the device fully boots. This replacement pack uses cells with a BMS inrush rating matched to the SPD-1's start-up draw profile. If the unit still cuts out on first boot, charge the pack to full before retrying — a partially charged Li-ion cell has higher internal resistance and amplifies the voltage sag during that spike.
SPD-1 shuts down during active logging with no low-battery warning
This happens when sustained sensor or storage load pulls the pack's output voltage below the device's brownout threshold, even though the battery still holds significant charge. The SPD-1 doesn't always show a low-battery alert before this kind of brownout — it simply stops. The cause is usually voltage sag under load, not total depletion. Charge the replacement pack fully before the session and confirm resting voltage reads at or above 16.4V off the charger before inserting it into the unit.

Frequently Asked Questions
The SPD-1 won't recognise the new battery after the unit sat unused in a carry case for several months — is the pack dead?
The battery's BMS has most likely entered sleep mode after dropping below its recovery voltage threshold during storage. Connect the pack to a compatible 14.4V charger and leave it for at least 30 minutes before attempting to power on the SPD-1 — the charger's trickle stage will push enough current to wake the BMS. If the charger shows no activity at all, check that the terminal voltage on the pack reads above 10V with a multimeter; below that, the BMS may need a recovery charge cycle using a charger with a Li-ion rescue mode.
The SPD-1 powers on and starts logging fine, but readings drift or the session resets mid-log with no error on screen.
This is a voltage dropout under sustained sensor load — the pack's output sags enough to momentarily drop below the SPD-1's stable-operation threshold, causing the recording engine to reset without a clean shutdown message. It's distinct from a full power-off and usually points to a cell that can't hold voltage under continuous draw. Confirm the replacement pack is fully charged before deployment, and if the symptom persists, check the battery contacts inside the bay for oxidation — a resistive connection amplifies voltage sag under load.
The SPD-1 shuts down every time a USB data transfer to a PC starts, even with a full battery.
The SPD-1's USB transfer mode adds a second load on top of the active recording or standby draw, and the combined current pull can trip the BMS if the pack's output voltage is already slightly below peak. This is not a compatibility issue — it's a load threshold problem. Charge the pack fully before any transfer session and initiate the USB connection while the unit is in standby rather than mid-recording. If the shutdown still occurs, the resting voltage before transfer should read at least 16.2V; anything lower means the pack hasn't completed its charge cycle.
