Fits Dell Latitude D620 notebook and replaces OEM part numbers 451-10297, 451-10298, 451-10299, JD648, 312-0653, RC126, 310-9080, 312-0384, NT379.
11.1V 6600mAh lithium-ion cell delivers 73.26Wh total capacity for this mid-2000s business laptop platform.
Connector is keyed to the D620 dock with a single-point locking tab on the left side during insertion.
We bench-tested this cell on the Dell charge circuit and confirmed the BMS accepts the handshake without fault codes on cold install.
After installation, run one full discharge to sleep cutoff then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Dell Latitude D620 — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery (451-10297)

This is an 11.1V 6600mAh lithium-ion battery for the Dell Latitude D620 notebook. It replaces OEM part numbers 451-10297, 451-10298, JD648, RC126, and several other cross-references used across D620 production runs. Capacity is 73.26Wh, matching the original 9-cell configuration.

  • D620 compatibility across production runs: Dell sourced the D620 battery pack from multiple suppliers across its production life, which is why so many OEM part numbers cross-reference to the same physical cell. The connector pinout, BMS handshake protocol, and voltage rail are identical across 451-10297 through 312-0384 — this cell fits all of them.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on a D620 unit and confirmed the BMS communicates correctly over SMBus, BIOS recognises the pack on first boot, and charge termination triggers normally at full capacity. No false fault flags appeared during cycling.
  • BIOS learn cycle after installation: After fitting this battery, run the laptop on battery only until it hibernates at low charge, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after a cell swap on the D620.

BIOS reporting battery health as poor immediately after replacement

The D620 BIOS reads health data from the battery's EEPROM, which stores cycle count and charge history from the previous cell. A new battery arrives with fresh EEPROM data the BIOS hasn't yet validated against actual charge cycles. The system flags this as degraded until it completes a learn cycle. Run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then charge to 100% without interruption — the health warning clears after one or two completed cycles.

Laptop shuts down at 20–30% charge shown on the gauge

This happens when the fuel gauge IC hasn't calibrated against the new cell's actual voltage curve. The gauge is still using the old cell's discharge profile, so it misreads remaining capacity under load. When the CPU and display pull full current, the cell voltage drops faster than the uncalibrated gauge expects, and the system hits low-voltage cutoff before the displayed percentage reaches zero. Complete two full discharge-to-hibernate and charge-to-100% cycles — the gauge recalibrates and the shutdowns stop.

Frequently Asked Questions

Dell BIOS says "Consider replacing your battery" on a brand-new cell — is something wrong with the replacement?

Nothing is wrong with the replacement. The D620 BIOS pulls health status from the battery's EEPROM, and a new cell carries data the BIOS hasn't validated yet — it flags unknown or unverified packs as degraded by default. Run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. That completes the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the warning.

System info shows the wrong Wh rating after fitting this battery — it's not displaying 73.26Wh

The Wh figure shown in Windows or Dell's battery report pulls from the EEPROM's design capacity register, which may differ slightly from the actual chemistry rating until the fuel gauge IC runs calibration cycles. This is an EEPROM data mismatch, not a faulty cell. Run two full discharge-and-charge cycles and check again — the reported value corrects itself once the fuel gauge IC has mapped the new cell's actual voltage curve.

New battery charges to about 80% then stops — won't go any higher

The D620 BIOS includes a charge-limit feature that can cap charging at 80% if it was previously enabled through Dell's battery settings or a BIOS update. This is a firmware-controlled threshold, not a fault with the cell. Go into the BIOS under Power Management, locate the battery charge settings, and confirm the charge limit is set to 100%. Save and reboot, then reconnect the AC adapter.
