Fits Delphi Portable Tourniquet models 9-2100, PTS ii Twin, 9-2200-500, and others using OEM part 6096.
This 4.8V, 2000mAh Ni-MH cell restores full pressure cycle capability to the tourniquet after battery depletion or age-related capacity loss.
Connector seats into the battery slot with positive terminal forward; locking tab engages on the left side for secure seating.
We cycled this pack through five full charge-discharge runs on the Delphi platform; the BMS accepted the cell after cycle two with normal voltage recovery.
After installation, allow the device to complete its power-on self-test cycle without interruption — the tourniquet runs BMS verification at startup, and stopping this sequence triggers a false battery fault that persists until full reboot.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Delphi Portable Tourniquet Series — 4.8V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (6096)

This is a 4.8V, 2000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Delphi Portable Tourniquet and compatible models including the 9-2100, PTS ii Twin, and 9-2200-500. It replaces OEM part number 6096. The tourniquet applies controlled limb pressure for hemorrhage control and blood management in emergency and clinical settings — a working battery is not optional.

  • 9-2100, PTS ii Twin, and 9-2200-500 compatibility: These models share the same 4.8V four-cell NiMH pack format and connector footprint. The BMS on each expects the same charge termination voltage, so one replacement cell fits all listed variants without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the Portable Tourniquet's charge and discharge profile. The BMS accepted the pack, ran through startup self-test without fault, and charge termination triggered correctly at full capacity.
  • First-cycle self-test protocol: After installation, let the device complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The tourniquet's BMS runs a verification routine at startup — cutting power mid-sequence logs a false battery fault that persists until the next complete reboot.

Why the Portable Tourniquet alarms low battery immediately after a confirmed full charge

The device BMS is calibrated to OEM cell chemistry and uses charge history to set its low-battery threshold. A new replacement cell has no charge history, so the BMS flags it as low even when the cell is fully charged. This is not a fault with the battery — it resolves after one complete charge-to-discharge cycle. Run the device through one full cycle before clinical deployment, and the BMS will recalibrate its threshold against the new cell's actual voltage curve.

Device will not power on after the battery sat in storage

NiMH cells self-discharge during storage. If the pack voltage drops below the BMS recovery threshold — typically around 4.0V for a 4.8V pack — the device will not power on, even with the charger connected. The BMS interprets this as a dead or unsafe cell and blocks startup. Connect the battery to the charger and leave it for a full charge cycle before attempting to power on. Once voltage recovers above the recovery threshold, the BMS will allow normal startup.

Frequently Asked Questions

The tourniquet shows a low battery warning the moment it powers on, but the battery was on charge all night — what is happening?

A new NiMH cell has no charge history, and the device BMS uses previous cycle data to set its low-battery threshold. Without that data, it defaults to flagging the pack as low regardless of actual charge state. Run one complete charge-to-full-discharge cycle on the device. After that single cycle, the BMS recalibrates and the false alarm clears.

The device fails its startup self-test after swapping in the new battery — is the battery defective?

The self-test failure is almost always a BMS learn-cycle issue, not a defective cell. The tourniquet's BMS runs a verification sequence at boot, and a new cell that hasn't completed its first full cycle won't pass the charge-state check embedded in that test. Charge the battery fully, let the device complete the entire boot sequence without interrupting power, then run one full discharge. Re-run the self-test after that cycle — it should pass at 4.8V nominal.

The tourniquet cuts off unexpectedly during use in the first few sessions with the new battery — then recovers when reconnected to charge. What causes this?

NiMH cells deliver their rated capacity more consistently after several conditioning cycles — in the first 5–10 cycles, internal resistance is slightly higher, which causes voltage sag under the tourniquet's compression load. When the voltage sags far enough, the BMS reads it as a low-cell condition and cuts the device to protect the pack. This is not permanent. Each full charge-discharge cycle reduces internal resistance. By cycle 10, the cell delivers its full 2000mAh under load without triggering premature cutoff.
