Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Deviser DS2000 Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (B201J001)
This is a 7.4V 1600mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Deviser DS2000 series laser distance meter and survey instrument. It fits the DS2000, DS2000A, DS2000B, and DS2000C. Capacity figure is 11.84Wh, matching the original specification.
- DS2000 series fit: The DS2000A, DS2000B, and DS2000C share the same battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol as the base DS2000. One replacement pack covers all four variants without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through full charge and discharge on a DS2000 body. The BMS negotiated charge termination correctly at 8.4V, and the protection circuit tripped cleanly at the low-voltage threshold without triggering a fault flag in the instrument menu.
- Post-install calibration on DS2000 series: After fitting a new pack, run a full calibration cycle through the DS2000 instrument menu before field deployment. The instrument maps battery state during calibration — skipping this step causes premature low-battery warnings on your first measurement session in the field.
DS2000 shutting down mid-measurement during sustained sensor load
The DS2000 draws a brief current spike each time the laser module fires and the processor logs a measurement. On a degraded or deeply discharged cell, that spike pulls the pack voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold for a split second. The instrument interprets this as a brown-out and shuts down to protect the measurement log. A fresh pack at full charge holds voltage stable through the firing cycle. If shutdowns continue after fitting a new battery, check that the calibration cycle has been completed — an uncalibrated pack can trigger false low-voltage events.
DS2000 not recognising a new pack after the instrument sat unused for months
Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage, and if a pack drops below roughly 2.5V per cell, the BMS enters sleep mode to prevent damage. When the DS2000 sees no handshake from the BMS, it refuses to power on and shows no response — not even a low-battery indicator. To recover the pack, connect it to a charger that applies a low-current pre-charge trickle below 500mA. Once cell voltage climbs back above 3.0V per cell, the BMS wakes, the handshake re-establishes, and the instrument powers on normally.

Frequently Asked Questions
My DS2000 powers on fine but shuts off the moment I start a USB data transfer to a PC — is the battery faulty?
This is a combined-load issue, not a faulty pack. The DS2000 draws power simultaneously from the battery for the processor and the USB controller during a transfer, and a worn or partially discharged cell sags under that combined draw, tripping the BMS. We saw this behaviour on the bench with cells below 7.0V under load. Charge the pack fully to 8.4V before transferring data, and the shutdowns stop.
The DS2000 display shows a full battery icon at startup, then jumps to low battery after the first few measurements — what's happening?
The instrument's voltage-threshold indicator recalibrates itself to the new cell's discharge curve during the first real load cycle. Until that recalibration settles, the percentage display can jump erratically. Run the full calibration sequence from the instrument menu immediately after fitting the new pack — this gives the DS2000 a reference curve to work from, and the indicator stabilises within one full charge-discharge cycle.
My DS2000 battery won't take a charge after sitting in the carry case all winter — the charger light just blinks and stops.
Extended storage in a discharged state drops cell voltage below the BMS recovery threshold, causing the BMS to lock out charging as a protection measure. A standard charger sees no valid handshake and aborts. Use a charger with a trickle or recovery mode that delivers under 500mA — this slowly raises cell voltage until the BMS re-initialises. Once the pack reaches 3.0V per cell, a normal charge cycle will complete successfully.
