Fits Deviser DS2500R laser distance meter; replaces OEM battery HYLB-1180.
14.4V 2500mAh pack delivers 36Wh to sustain full measurement cycles without mid-session shutdowns.
Connector seats vertically into the DS2500R battery slot with a single locking tab on the left side.
We bench-tested this cell on the DS2500R instrument platform; BMS initialized cleanly and held stable voltage under sustained sensor load.
Run a full calibration cycle through the instrument menu after installing this battery—the DS2500R maps battery state during calibration, and skipping this step triggers premature low-battery warnings on the first field measurement.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Deviser DS2500R — 14.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (HYLB-1180)

This is a 14.4V 2500mAh (36Wh) lithium-ion battery for the Deviser DS2500R survey and laser measurement instrument. It replaces OEM part HYLB-1180 directly. The DS2500R draws on this pack to power its ranging circuits, display, and onboard data logging during field measurement sessions.

  • DS2500R platform fit: The DS2500R uses a 14.4V rail with a BMS handshake that validates cell voltage and pack temperature before enabling the measurement circuits. This replacement pack meets that voltage profile and connector pinout, so the instrument recognises the pack at boot without triggering a battery fault code.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through instrument power-on, sensor initialisation, and sustained ranging loads. The BMS held stable across probe start-up current spikes and did not trip into protection mode during back-to-back measurement sequences.
  • Pre-deployment calibration cycle: After fitting this pack, run a full calibration cycle through the DS2500R instrument menu before taking it to site. The instrument maps battery state during calibration — skipping this step causes premature low-battery warnings during the first measurement session, even when the pack is fully charged.

BMS cutoff when the DS2500R initialises its ranging sensor

At power-on, the DS2500R energises its laser ranging module in a short current spike that can exceed 1.5A for under a second. A degraded original pack often drops below the BMS undervoltage threshold during this spike, triggering protection cutoff before the instrument fully boots. This replacement pack's cells sustain voltage under that initialisation load without sagging into cutoff territory. If the instrument still cuts out at boot, check that the pack is charged above 15.2V before powering on.

DS2500R readings resetting mid-logging session

During extended logging, the DS2500R draws continuous current across its sensor array, display backlight, and data storage simultaneously. If cell capacity has faded, voltage sags under this combined load and the instrument interprets the dropout as a power fault, resetting the active session. This is not a firmware issue — it is a cell capacity problem. Replacing the pack and confirming the new battery reads above 14.0V under load resolves the mid-session reset.

Frequently Asked Questions

My DS2500R won't turn on after the battery sat in the case for a few months — is the pack dead?

Most likely the BMS has entered sleep mode after self-discharge dropped the cell voltage below its recovery threshold. Connect the pack to the charger for at least 30 minutes before attempting to power the instrument — the charger needs to push enough current to wake the BMS before a normal charge cycle can begin. If the charger shows no activity after 30 minutes, the cells may have discharged below 10V per cell, which is the typical hard recovery floor for Li-ion. At that point the pack will not recover and needs replacing.

The DS2500R powers on fine but shuts itself off as soon as I connect it to my PC for data transfer — why?

USB data transfer adds a combined draw from the communication port, display, and active sensor standby on top of normal operating current. If the pack's remaining capacity is low, that combined load pulls cell voltage down fast enough to trigger the BMS undervoltage cutoff. Charge the pack fully before attempting any USB transfer session — the instrument needs to sit above 14.0V at rest before the transfer starts to sustain the full combined draw without dropout.

The battery percentage on the DS2500R display jumps around erratically after fitting the new pack — is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong with the pack. The DS2500R's voltage-threshold indicator is recalibrating to the new cells' discharge curve, which differs slightly from the worn original. Run the full calibration cycle through the instrument menu, then do one complete discharge-to-shutdown followed by a full charge. After that cycle the display percentage will track accurately against the new pack's actual capacity.
