Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

DJI Osmo Action 3 / Action 4 / Action 5 Pro — 3.85V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BCX202)
This is a 3.85V, 1800mAh (6.93Wh) Li-ion replacement battery for the DJI Osmo Action 3, Osmo Action 4, and Osmo Action 5 Pro action cameras. It matches the BCX202 OEM part number and fits the same battery compartment across all three models. Voltage and cell format are consistent with the original specification.
- Osmo Action 3, 4, and 5 Pro compatibility: All three cameras use the same BCX202 cell format, voltage rail, and BMS handshake protocol. DJI carried the battery architecture across generations, so one cell works in all three bodies without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on an Osmo Action 3 body. The BMS accepted the cell without error flags, and the battery-remaining indicator tracked normally across the discharge curve.
- First-cycle initialisation on Osmo Action cameras: On first install, charge the battery fully from inside the camera body using the OEM or a USB-C cable before your first shoot. Some DJI BMS builds require an in-body charge cycle to calibrate the percentage display to the new cell's discharge curve — skipping this step can cause the indicator to jump erratically early on.
Why the Osmo Action 3 battery drains faster under 4K stabilised recording
At 4K with RockSteady or HorizonSteady active, the Osmo Action 3 draws on the processor, gyro sensors, and image stabilisation pipeline simultaneously. That combined load pulls significantly more current from the cell than standard 1080p recording. A 1800mAh cell at 3.85V has a fixed energy budget — high-draw modes spend it faster. If drain feels unusually quick, check that stabilisation modes are only enabled when needed.
Battery percentage jumping erratically on a new replacement cell
This happens when the camera's BMS has not yet mapped the new cell's discharge curve to its percentage thresholds. The original BMS calibration was built around the aged state of your previous cell, not a fresh one. The fix is straightforward: charge the replacement to 100% from inside the camera body, then allow it to discharge through normal use without interruption. After one full cycle, the indicator stabilises — the cell's voltage steps align with the camera's display logic at each percentage bracket.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Osmo Action 3 shows a dead battery icon even though this replacement cell is partially charged — is the camera rejecting it?
The camera's BMS runs an authentication and voltage-threshold check on every new cell at startup. If the cell hasn't completed a full in-body charge cycle yet, the BMS can misread its state and display a dead or error indicator. Plug the camera into USB-C and charge the battery to 100% from inside the body before using it. After that first full charge, the camera accepts the cell and reads its state correctly.
The battery percentage on my Osmo Action 4 drops suddenly from around 30% straight to empty — why does this happen with a new battery?
This is a discharge-curve mapping issue, not a faulty cell. The camera's percentage display maps voltage steps to percentage brackets based on prior cell behaviour — a new cell has a slightly different voltage slope at the low end, so the drop looks abrupt. Run one complete charge-to-discharge cycle through the camera body without interrupting it. After that cycle, the BMS recalibrates its threshold mapping to the new cell and the drop disappears.
My Osmo Action 3 body gets noticeably warm during extended video recording and the battery depletes quickly — is that normal with a replacement cell?
Sustained video recording combines sensor readout, encoding, image stabilisation, and wireless transmission into a continuous high-current draw. That load generates heat in both the processor and the battery cell — it is not specific to replacement cells. If the body feels hotter than expected, check that background Wi-Fi or live-stream modes are not active alongside recording, as those add a measurable current draw on top of video. Keep the camera out of direct sunlight during long sessions to prevent the thermal management system from throttling the processor and accelerating apparent battery drain.
