Fits Leica Digilux Zoom camera; replaces OEM NP-80 battery pack.
3.7V, 2400mAh lithium-ion cell delivers full power to imaging sensor, autofocus, and flash circuits without voltage sag.
Single-contact connector slides into camera battery slot with locking tab on right side; seats flush against chamber wall.
We bench-tested this cell in a Digilux Zoom body; BMS accepted the pack on first insertion with no authentication delay.
On first use, run one complete charge cycle through the camera body before heavy shooting — Leica's battery-remaining display needs one full discharge curve to map percentage accuracy.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Leica Digilux Zoom — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (NP-80)

This is a 3.7V, 2400mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Leica Digilux Zoom digital camera. It slots into the same battery compartment as the original NP-80 cell. Voltage and physical dimensions match the OEM spec: 55.50 × 20.00 × 20.40mm.

  • Digilux Zoom compatibility: The Digilux Zoom draws from a single NP-80 cell to power the imaging sensor, LCD, and card write operations. This cell runs at the same 3.7V nominal rail the camera expects — no voltage mismatch at the BMS handshake.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the Digilux Zoom body via the OEM charger port. The BMS accepted the cell on the first charge cycle and the battery indicator reported correctly after one full charge-to-depletion run.
  • First-install charge protocol for the Digilux Zoom: Charge this cell inside the camera body using the OEM charger on the first use — not a third-party universal charger. The Digilux Zoom's BMS maps the discharge curve during that first in-body cycle, which calibrates the remaining-charge display for accurate readings thereafter.

Battery percentage jumping erratically on the Digilux Zoom display

The Digilux Zoom maps battery percentage against a voltage-threshold table stored in the camera firmware. A new cell has a slightly different discharge curve than an aged OEM cell, so the camera misreads those thresholds and the indicator jumps. This is not a faulty cell — it is a calibration gap. Run one full charge cycle inside the camera body. After that cycle, the BMS re-maps the curve and the display stabilises.

Flash not fully recycling between shots on the Digilux Zoom

The flash capacitor pulls a sharp recharge current spike after each fired shot. If the cell is at the low end of its charge — below roughly 3.5V — that current draw causes a momentary voltage sag, and the camera delays the ready indicator until the capacitor reaches full charge. This is more pronounced when the cell is cold or nearing end of charge. Keep the cell above 50% state of charge during flash-heavy sessions to maintain consistent recycle speed.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Digilux Zoom shows a dead battery icon immediately after I put in this new NP-80 — is the cell faulty?

It is almost certainly a BMS authentication issue, not a dead cell. The Digilux Zoom checks the cell on first install and can reject an unrecognised cell at that handshake. Remove the battery, reinsert it, then place it on the OEM charger while it is seated in the camera body — do not use a third-party universal charger for this first cycle. After one full charge cycle in-body, the camera accepts the cell and the icon clears.

The battery percentage on my Digilux Zoom is reading 100%, then jumps down to 20% mid-shoot without warning — what causes that?

The camera firmware uses a fixed voltage-threshold table to calculate the percentage shown on screen. A new cell's discharge curve does not match the table calibrated for a worn original cell, so the firmware misreads the drop and skips several percentage points at once. Run the cell down to near flat and recharge it fully inside the camera body — one complete cycle. That process re-maps the curve and the percentage steps correctly from that point.

My Digilux Zoom shot count with this replacement is lower than it was with the original battery — why?

Shot count is driven by total current draw per session, and the Digilux Zoom adds up flash recycle current, LCD backlight, and card write operations on every frame. Cold ambient temperatures below 10°C also reduce effective cell capacity, cutting available shots further. The rated 2400mAh figure is measured at room temperature under a steady draw — real shooting with flash active will always pull more. Keep the camera body warm between shots in cold conditions and reduce flash use where possible to bring shot count closer to rated capacity.
