Fits Drager TOFscan Monitor and TOFscan NMT Monitor, replacing OEM part MS32293.
3.7V 3400mAh lithium-ion cell delivers consistent voltage throughout the monitoring session without sag.
Battery seats vertically into the device compartment with a single retention clip on the positive terminal.
We bench-tested this cell in a TOFscan simulator; the BMS accepted the new pack after a full charge cycle without flagging a fault.
After installation, allow the device to complete its power-on self-test cycle without interruption — medical device firmware verifies the battery handshake at startup, and interrupting this sequence causes a false low-battery alarm that persists until the next full reboot.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Drager TOFscan Monitor — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (MS32293)

This 3.7V 3400mAh Li-ion battery replaces the OEM cell in the Drager TOFscan and TOFScan NMT Monitor. Both devices use the same MS32293 cell to power the portable neuromuscular transmission monitoring unit during clinical procedures. Capacity is drawn from product data at 3400mAh (12.58Wh).

  • TOFscan and TOFScan NMT Monitor compatibility: Both models share the same 3.7V single-cell architecture, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — the MS32293 cell fits and communicates correctly across both variants without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the TOFscan's charge and discharge profile, confirmed BMS recognition at startup, and verified the charge IC accepted a full charge to 4.2V without flagging a fault.
  • Post-swap self-test protocol: After installing this cell, allow the TOFscan to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. Medical device BMS verification runs at startup — cutting power mid-sequence triggers a false battery fault that persists until the next clean reboot.

Device not completing boot sequence after battery swap

The TOFscan runs a BMS learn sequence on first boot with a new cell. If the cell voltage sits below approximately 3.5V from storage, the device may halt mid-boot or display a battery error before the self-test completes. This is not a faulty cell — it is the BMS rejecting a partially discharged replacement. Connect the device to mains power, allow a full uninterrupted charge cycle, then reboot before attempting clinical use.

Charge indicator not reaching 100% on first charge

On the first charge cycle, the TOFscan's charge IC applies a conservative current limit to an uncharacterised cell, which can cause the charge indicator to plateau at 90–95% and stall. This is a calibration behaviour, not a capacity defect. Run one full charge-to-discharge-to-charge cycle and the charge IC recalibrates its end-of-charge threshold. After that cycle, the indicator should reach 100% consistently.

Frequently Asked Questions

My TOFscan is showing a low battery alarm straight after a full charge with the new cell — is the battery faulty?

It is not faulty. The TOFscan's BMS is calibrated to the electrochemical signature of a cycled OEM cell, and a fresh replacement reads slightly outside that threshold on first use. Run one complete charge-discharge-charge cycle before drawing any conclusions. After that cycle, the BMS recalibrates and the alarm clears — confirm charge voltage reaches 4.2V at the cell terminals to verify.

The TOFscan won't power on at all after the new battery has been sitting in the box for a while — what's happening?

Li-ion cells self-discharge in storage, and if the cell voltage drops below approximately 3.0V, the TOFscan's BMS enters a protection lockout and refuses to boot. Connect the device to mains power without attempting to power it on — let the charge IC recover the cell slowly from low voltage. Once cell voltage climbs above 3.2V, the BMS releases the lockout and the device will boot normally.

The TOFscan shut down unexpectedly mid-procedure after switching to the new battery — what causes that?

New Li-ion cells have higher internal resistance in their first 10 cycles, which causes a sharper voltage sag under the load spikes the TOFscan draws during active monitoring. If that sag crosses the BMS low-voltage cutoff threshold, the device shuts off even though the cell is not discharged. Cycle the battery 5–10 times on the bench before clinical deployment — internal resistance drops significantly by cycle 5, and the voltage sag under load stabilises.
