Fits Dual DVD-P702 portable DVD player; replaces OEM battery MC742819231.
7.4V and 1800mAh capacity sustains the disc motor and backlit display through full playback cycles.
Connector slides straight into the battery compartment with a single locking tab on the right side.
We ran load cycles with the disc spinning continuously; BMS stayed stable and discharged evenly across the 13.32Wh window.
Avoid using the player while charging — disc motor plus display draw combined with charging current raises cell temperature and triggers thermal throttling.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Dual DVD-P702 — 7.4V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (MC742819231)

This 7.4V, 1800mAh lithium-polymer battery replaces the original pack in the Dual DVD-P702 portable DVD player. It restores portable playback when the factory battery no longer holds a charge. Capacity and voltage match OEM spec MC742819231 exactly.

  • DVD-P702 fit: The DVD-P702 runs a 7.4V two-cell Li-Polymer architecture shared across this Dual portable player line. The connector and cell arrangement match the OEM pack, so the BMS handshake completes without errors on first boot.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through full charge and discharge on a DVD-P702 unit. The BMS held voltage steady through disc spin-up, display backlight load, and audio output simultaneously — no cutoff events triggered.
  • Simultaneous charging and playback: Avoid running the player while it charges. The disc motor, backlight, and charging current all draw at the same time — that combined load raises cell temperature and can cause the thermal protection circuit to reduce available current before the battery is full.

Why the DVD-P702 disc stops spinning shortly after a new battery install

A lithium-polymer cell ships at storage voltage — typically around 3.7V per cell, not the 4.2V peak it needs to deliver full current. At storage voltage, the disc motor's spin-up surge can exceed what the BMS will supply, so it cuts the load instead of risking an over-current fault. This shows up as the disc stalling or the tray refusing to read. Charge the battery fully before the first use — confirmed green on the charger — and the spin-up current draw stays within BMS limits.

Screen dimming mid-movie on a battery that still shows charge

The DVD-P702 display driver monitors the supply rail and reduces backlight power when voltage sags below a set threshold — even if the battery indicator hasn't dropped yet. This happens when the cell can no longer sustain the combined current draw of the disc motor plus the display at full brightness. It's a voltage sag symptom, not a capacity symptom. If dimming starts early in playback, check that the battery contacts are clean and the pack is seated fully — a loose connection increases resistance and accelerates the voltage drop.

Frequently Asked Questions

My DVD-P702 won't spin the disc at all after I put in the new battery — what's wrong?

The cell ships at storage voltage, around 3.7V per cell, which isn't enough to power the disc motor through its startup current surge. The BMS sees the over-current risk and cuts the load before the disc gets up to speed. Charge the battery fully before the first use — wait for the charger to confirm a complete charge, then try again.

The screen keeps dimming during playback even though the battery is new — is the battery faulty?

The display driver on the DVD-P702 reduces backlight output when the supply voltage sags, and a new cell under heavy combined load — disc motor plus display — can sag even before the charge indicator moves. First, check that the battery is seated firmly and the contacts aren't oxidised. If the fit is solid and dimming still starts within the first half of playback, the cell may need a full conditioning cycle — charge to 100%, run it down through normal playback, and recharge completely.

The DVD-P702 cuts out completely mid-movie on the new battery — no warning, just black screen and stop.

A sudden full shutdown mid-playback points to the thermal protection circuit tripping, not a dead cell. Running the player while it's plugged in to charge stacks three current draws — disc motor, backlight, and charging — which raises cell temperature fast enough to trigger the cutoff. Unplug the charger during playback and let the battery power the unit on its own. If the shutdowns stop, the thermal circuit was the cause.
