Fits Sylvania SDVD1087 Blu-ray Player, replaces OEM part number 1438145P.
7.4V, 4000mAh Li-Polymer cell restores full disc spin-up current and sustained display brightness throughout extended viewing sessions.
Connector slides into the battery slot with flat orientation; locking tab seats flush against the player housing for secure retention.
We charged this cell from storage voltage on a standard charger and monitored BMS behavior through three full discharge cycles with disc motor running continuously; voltage regulation held steady under peak load.
On first insertion, charge fully before powering on the player — the Sylvania platform requires the cell above 7.0V for the disc motor to engage spin-up current reliably.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sylvania SDVD1087 Blu-ray Player — 7.4V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (1438145P)

This 7.4V, 4000mAh Li-Polymer battery replaces part number 1438145P in the Sylvania SDVD1087 portable Blu-ray player. It restores cordless operation when the original cell no longer holds a charge. Dimensions are 131.80 x 38.10 x 13.00mm — confirm your original before fitting.

  • SDVD1087 compatibility: The SDVD1087 uses a flat Li-Polymer pack with a specific connector orientation and BMS handshake. This replacement matches the OEM voltage rails and cell configuration so the player's protection circuit communicates correctly at startup.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through full charge and discharge cycles on the SDVD1087 platform. The BMS held stable across disc motor spin-up events, which draw peak current well above the steady-state display load. No false cutoffs were recorded during testing.
  • Charging while playing: Avoid running the player while it charges. The disc motor, display backlight, and charging current all draw simultaneously — that combined load raises cell temperature and can trigger thermal protection, which reduces available power before the charge cycle completes.

Disc not spinning after battery swap on the SDVD1087

The disc motor on the SDVD1087 pulls a short but sharp current spike at spin-up — higher than anything the display or audio circuit demands. If the replacement cell shipped at storage voltage (around 3.7V per cell), the pack may not deliver enough current to sustain that spike. The BMS interprets this as an overload and cuts output before the disc reaches read speed. A full charge cycle before first use brings both cells to 4.2V each, giving the pack the headroom it needs to clear the spin-up draw.

Screen dimming partway through playback on a new battery

Backlight dimming mid-movie is not a display fault — it is the player's display driver stepping down brightness as pack voltage sags below its threshold. On a new cell this usually means the battery shipped partially discharged and hit the low-voltage floor earlier than expected. It can also occur if the pack temperature climbed from combined disc and display load. Charge the battery fully, let it cool to room temperature, and check that pack voltage reads at least 8.0V before starting playback.

Frequently Asked Questions

My SDVD1087 won't start a disc at all — it just clicks and goes back to the menu. Is this the battery?

That click-and-return behaviour almost always comes from the disc motor failing to reach spin speed during the startup current surge. A cell at storage voltage cannot sustain that peak draw, so the BMS cuts out and the player abandons the spin attempt. Charge the new battery fully before the first use. If the pack reads below 8.0V after a full charge cycle, the cell has a fault.

The screen goes dark about halfway through a movie but the player is still running — what's causing that?

The display driver reduces backlight output when pack voltage drops to its low threshold — it's a power-save response, not a screen failure. On a new battery this typically means the cell arrived at a partial state of charge and hit that threshold sooner than expected. Run a full charge cycle, then check pack voltage at the start of playback — it should sit at or above 8.0V. If dimming recurs within the first hour on a fully charged pack, the cell capacity may be below spec.

New battery fitted but the SDVD1087 shows a lower charge level than expected right after charging — why?

Li-Polymer cells ship in a reduced state to meet transport regulations, and the first charge cycle from storage voltage does not always fully condition the cell. The battery management system recalibrates its state-of-charge reading over the first two to three full charge and discharge cycles. Run the pack down until the player shuts off from low voltage, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — repeat twice and the charge indicator should stabilise at an accurate reading.
