Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

DXG DXG-5C0 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 3.7V 720mAh Li-ion replacement cell for DXG compact point-and-shoot cameras. It fits the DXG-5C0, DXG-5C0V, DXG-5C8V, DXG-5C8VR, and one additional model in the same series. Dimensions are 39.50 × 35.40 × 5.60mm — match these before ordering if you are unsure which variant you have.

  • DXG-5C0 series fit: These models share the same battery bay dimensions, contact pin layout, and 3.7V charging rail. One cell covers the full group without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the camera body charger and monitored BMS handshake on first connection. The cell was accepted without a rejection event, and charge termination triggered correctly at full capacity.
  • First-cycle charge protocol: Run the first full charge through the OEM charger or directly in the camera body before shooting. Some DXG BMS firmware maps the battery-remaining indicator to a discharge curve — it needs one supervised cycle to report remaining charge accurately on the display.

Battery percentage jumping erratically on the DXG-5C0 display

The DXG-5C0 uses a voltage-threshold method to estimate remaining charge. A new replacement cell has a slightly different discharge curve than the depleted original, so the camera's lookup table maps voltage to percentage incorrectly at first. You may see the indicator jump from 80% to 20% mid-session or hover at full for longer than expected. After two or three full discharge-and-charge cycles in the camera body, the display stabilises as the BMS adjusts to the new cell's actual voltage profile.

Flash not fully recycling between shots after extended use

The onboard flash capacitor pulls a short, high-current burst from the cell each time it recharges. As the cell approaches the lower end of its discharge curve — roughly 3.4V — available current drops and the capacitor takes longer to reach full charge voltage. The result is a dimmer flash or a longer wait between shots, even though the battery indicator may still show charge remaining. If you notice this pattern, charge the battery before the next session rather than shooting the cell down to cutoff.

Frequently Asked Questions

My DXG-5C0 shows a dead battery icon as soon as I install the new cell — is the battery faulty?

It is not faulty. The DXG-5C0 BMS sometimes fails to recognise a new cell on cold insertion, particularly if the camera has been sitting unused for a long time. Remove the battery, wait ten seconds, and reinsert it — if the icon persists, place the cell in the OEM charger first and run a full charge before inserting it into the body. A single supervised charge cycle is usually enough for the camera to accept the cell and display a normal charge level.

The shot count on the new battery seems far lower than the original — what is drawing it down faster?

Flash recharge, continuous autofocus, and optical image stabilisation all add current draw beyond the base sensor and processor load. In active shooting with flash enabled, total draw can be two to three times what the camera consumes in standby. The rated capacity of 720mAh reflects the cell's energy storage, not a fixed shot count — real-world count varies significantly depending on how many of those systems are active. Disable the flash when shooting in good light and turn off OIS for stationary subjects to reduce draw per shot.

The battery percentage on the DXG-5C0V drops from full to around 30% within the first few shots, then holds there for a long time — what is happening?

The camera is misreading the new cell's discharge curve. The DXG voltage-threshold indicator was calibrated to an aged original cell, which loses voltage faster at the top of its curve. A fresh cell holds a higher voltage longer, then drops steeply — the camera interprets that steep drop as a large percentage loss and then stalls the reading when voltage stabilises. Run two or three full discharge and recharge cycles through the camera body and the indicator will track the actual remaining charge more accurately.
