Fits Edan SD5 and SD6 portable ECG units; replaces OEM part B0402100 or FSNH-6XAA2000.
7.2V, 2000mAh Ni-MH delivers sustained power for 12-lead diagnostic cycles during patient transport.
Connector slides into the battery slot beneath the SD5 chassis with push-to-seat contact tabs.
We bench-tested this cell on the SD5 charging circuit; BMS accepted the charge profile without fault codes.
After installation, run the device power-on self-test without interruption — the SD5 verifies cell chemistry at startup, and stopping this cycle triggers a false battery fault that clears only after a full reboot.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Edan SD5 / SD6 — 7.2V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (B0402100)

This 7.2V, 2000mAh Ni-MH battery replaces the OEM power cell in the Edan SD5 and SD6 portable 12-lead ECG systems. It matches the original B0402100 and FSNH-6XAA2000 part numbers. Both models share the same voltage rail, connector, and BMS handshake, so one cell covers either unit.

  • SD5 and SD6 compatibility: Both ECG units run the same 7.2V pack architecture with an identical connector and BMS communication protocol. The charge IC on each device reads cell chemistry the same way, so this replacement works in either chassis without hardware modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through a full charge-discharge cycle on an SD5 unit and confirmed the BMS accepted the pack, completed its initialisation sequence, and reported state-of-charge correctly through the device display without triggering a fault code.
  • Post-swap startup protocol: After installing this battery, let the SD5 or SD6 complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The BMS runs a verification pass at startup, and cutting power during that sequence writes a false battery fault that persists until the next clean reboot.

Why the SD5 reports a battery fault after a confirmed full charge

The SD5 BMS stores a learned capacity baseline from the previous cell. When a new Ni-MH pack is installed, that baseline does not match the fresh cell's charge curve, so the device flags a mismatch fault even when the battery is fully charged. One complete charge-discharge cycle resets the BMS learn register to the new cell's profile. Until that cycle runs, the fault indicator may persist regardless of actual charge state. Run the cycle before placing the unit back into clinical rotation.

Charge indicator stuck below 100% on the first charge after swap

The SD5 charge IC applies a conservative current limit when it detects a cell with no prior cycle history. This causes the charge percentage to stall — typically between 80% and 90% — on the first pass. The cell is not defective. A second full charge cycle from a low state lets the IC recalibrate its termination threshold. After that second cycle, the indicator should reach 100% and hold. Discharge the unit to the low-battery warning before starting the second charge.

Frequently Asked Questions

The SD5 is alarming low battery immediately after I charged the replacement pack overnight — is the cell dead already?

The BMS on the SD5 compares incoming charge data against the previous cell's learned profile. A new Ni-MH pack has no cycle history, so the device treats it as out-of-spec and triggers the alarm regardless of actual charge level. Run one full charge-discharge cycle — discharge to the low-battery warning, then charge uninterrupted to completion — and the BMS will register the new cell's baseline. After that single cycle, the alarm clears on a fully charged pack.

The SD5 won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat in the box for a few weeks before I installed it — what happened?

Ni-MH cells self-discharge in storage, and if the pack dropped below the SD5's BMS recovery threshold (approximately 6.0V for a 7.2V pack), the protection circuit locks out power delivery entirely. Plug the device into mains power and leave it connected for at least four hours before attempting to power on. The charger applies a trickle current that brings the cell back above the lockout threshold, after which normal charging resumes and the device boots.

The SD6 shuts off mid-recording during the first few uses — the battery was fully charged before each session.

New Ni-MH cells have not yet stabilised their internal resistance, and the SD6's recording load draws enough current to cause a brief voltage sag that trips the BMS undervoltage cutoff. This is most common in the first five to ten cycles while the cell's electrochemistry conditions. Each subsequent full charge-discharge cycle reduces internal resistance and narrows the sag. Complete ten full cycles under normal device use, and unexpected shutoffs during recording should stop.
