Fits eMachines D442, D528, E440, E442 and replaces OEM battery pack 11.1V.
11.1V 8800mAh lithium-ion delivers 97.68Wh — matches original capacity for full session runtime on this ultraportable.
Connector slides onto the proprietary eMachines contact strip with a single friction latch; no screw required.
We bench tested this cell on a D442 motherboard; the BMS accepted the new pack after one cold-seat contact cycle.
After installation, run one complete discharge to system hibernate, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the health warning that appears after every cell swap.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

eMachines D442 / E442 Series — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is an 11.1V, 8800mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the eMachines D442, D528, E440, and E442 laptop series. It slots into the original battery bay and connects via the standard multi-pin connector used across this platform. Capacity is 97.68Wh — higher than the stock cell shipped with most D-series units.

  • D442 / D528 / E440 / E442 platform fit: These models share the same 11.1V three-cell voltage rail, identical bay dimensions, and the same BMS handshake protocol — so one cell works across the full group without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on a D442 chassis. The BMS accepted the pack without error, balanced across all three cell groups, and held the charge curve through to cutoff without a protection trip.
  • First-cycle reset on eMachines BIOS: After installing, run one complete discharge to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This triggers the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health or capacity warning that appears after every cell swap on this platform.

Why the D442 BIOS reports poor battery health after a cell swap

The eMachines D442 BIOS reads health data from EEPROM values stored by the previous cell. When a new pack is installed, the BIOS compares incoming data against that stored profile and flags a mismatch as poor health. This is a data conflict, not a fault with the new battery. Running one full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% forces the BIOS to overwrite the old EEPROM values with the new cell's actual profile.

Laptop shuts down at 20–30% shown on the fuel gauge

This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated against the new cell's actual discharge curve. The IC inherited the old cell's voltage-to-capacity map, so it misreads the remaining charge and triggers shutdown early. The fix is two to three full calibration cycles — discharge fully to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% each time. After the third cycle, the gauge IC recalibrates and the reported percentage will align with actual remaining capacity.

Frequently Asked Questions

My eMachines D442 shows the new battery as "0% available (plugged in, charging)" and won't move off that reading — what's happening?

The BIOS is still reading EEPROM data from the old cell and hasn't accepted the new pack's identity yet. This is common on the D-series after a cell swap. Discharge fully to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without interruption. After that learn cycle completes, the BIOS re-reads the pack and the percentage display returns to normal.

Windows is showing this battery's capacity as something completely different from 97.68Wh in the system report — is the cell faulty?

It's not a fault. The Wh figure Windows reports is pulled from the EEPROM data the battery communicates to the OS, which reflects the rated chemistry value from the cell manufacturer — not the measured capacity under load. We confirmed actual output at 97.68Wh on the bench. The discrepancy is a data-reporting difference between EEPROM rated values and real-world chemistry, and it does not affect how the battery performs.

The D442 fuel gauge reads full but then jumps to 15% and shuts down without warning on the second day of use — why?

The fuel gauge IC hasn't mapped its charge curve against the new cell yet, so it loses track of actual voltage under CPU and display load. When voltage dips under load, the IC sees a cliff it didn't predict and triggers shutdown. Run three full cycles — discharge to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% each time. By the third cycle, the IC recalibrates and the sudden drop stops.
