Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Emporia CONNECT / V88 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (AK-V88)
This 3.7V, 1150mAh Li-ion cell replaces the original AK-V88 battery in the Emporia CONNECT and V88 smartphones. It fits the CONNECT, V88, and V88_001 variants — same connector, same BMS handshake points, same physical footprint at 56.10 × 41.50 × 5.60mm. Capacity figures come from our product data, not third-party estimates.
- CONNECT and V88 platform fit: The CONNECT and V88 share the same battery bay, connector pinout, and charge IC interface. One cell covers both because the voltage rail and BMS communication lines are identical across these variants.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge-discharge cycles on a V88 unit and monitored BMS cutoff behaviour. The protection circuit tripped correctly at low voltage and the charge IC accepted the cell without fault flags on the third cycle onward.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: Disable fast charging for the first complete discharge-charge cycle after fitting this cell. The fuel gauge IC on the CONNECT is calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve — one slow cycle lets it map the new curve before high-current charging begins.
Why the CONNECT reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap
The Emporia CONNECT uses a coulomb counter and a stored discharge curve to estimate remaining charge. When you fit a new cell, the IC still references the old cell's curve — so the percentage readout drifts immediately. The phone may show 80% and then jump to 55% within minutes. One full discharge down to automatic shutdown, followed by a complete uninterrupted charge to 100%, forces the fuel gauge IC to write a new baseline. After that cycle, percentage tracking stabilises.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% remaining on the replacement cell
This happens when the modem or display draws a current spike the new cell's voltage cannot sustain — it drops below the BMS cutoff threshold even though the gauge still reads 20–30%. It is a calibration gap, not a faulty cell. The fuel gauge IC has not yet mapped where the new cell's voltage cliff actually sits under real load. Run one full discharge-charge cycle without interruption and the IC recalibrates the low-voltage threshold; shutdowns at false percentages stop after that cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions
The phone powers on, gets to the Emporia logo, then shuts off immediately — is this the battery?
Almost always yes, and the cause is BMS lockout after deep discharge in storage. If cell voltage dropped below 2.5V while the phone sat unused, the protection circuit disconnects the cell entirely. Plug the phone into a wall charger — not a USB port — and leave it for 20 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC trickle-charges the cell back above the BMS re-enable threshold, typically around 2.9V, at which point the phone boots normally.
Fast charging stopped working the first time I plugged in this replacement battery — was it ever going to work?
It will work, but not on the first cycle. The CONNECT's charge IC runs a handshake with the BMS on a new cell and defaults to standard charge current until it confirms cell impedance is within expected range — that check usually passes on the second or third charge cycle. Plug in with the standard charger, let it complete a full charge to 100%, then disconnect and use the phone normally until it shuts off on its own. After that first full cycle, fast charging re-enables automatically.
The battery percentage jumps around erratically — it went from 45% to 12% in two minutes without me doing anything heavy
That is the fuel gauge IC reading against the old cell's stored discharge curve, which no longer matches the new cell's actual voltage behaviour. The counter loses track of true state-of-charge as soon as the voltage curve diverges from what it expects. Let the phone discharge fully to auto-shutdown, then charge it to 100% in one uninterrupted session with the screen off. That single cycle rewrites the reference curve and the percentage readout will track accurately from that point.
