Why the TM-P60 stops mid-print on a new battery

The TM-P60 thermal head pulls a concentrated burst of current each time it fires a print line. If the replacement pack is installed at a low state of charge — common after shipping — that burst can drag cell voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold momentarily, causing the printer to halt and throw a power error. This is not a faulty battery. Fully charging the pack before the first print job eliminates the condition. The BMS resets automatically once the pack is recharged above 7.0V.

Cradle not recognising the new pack after swap

If the TM-P60 cradle shows a charging error or no charge indicator after installing this battery, the most common cause is contact resistance at the battery terminals. A thin film of oxidation or debris on the gold-plated contacts interrupts the communication signal between the pack and the charging dock. Remove the battery, wipe both the pack contacts and the cradle pins with a dry lint-free cloth, then reseat firmly. If the error clears, the pack will charge normally — confirm by checking the cradle LED transitions from amber to green.

My TM-P60 cradle shows an amber error light and won't charge the new battery — what's wrong?

The cradle communicates with the pack through small gold-plated contact pins, and any surface contamination on those pins or on the battery terminals raises resistance enough to break the handshake. Remove the battery, wipe the contacts on both the pack and the cradle with a dry lint-free cloth, and reseat the battery with firm downward pressure until it clicks. The amber light should transition to a steady charge indicator within 30 seconds of a clean connection.

The replacement battery seems to drain faster than expected on a busy printing shift — what's drawing it down?

The TM-P60 thermal head and paper feed motor both draw current simultaneously during each print cycle, and on a high-volume shift those cycles stack up quickly. Bluetooth or wireless connectivity running in parallel adds a continuous background draw on top of the print bursts. Check that wireless is disabled when printing over a direct USB connection — that alone reduces idle current draw. If drain is still heavy, verify the pack is reaching a full charge in the cradle before each shift by waiting for the green charge-complete LED rather than pulling it early.
