New battery fitted but the 2000+ still reads low power at startup

The 2000+ samples cell voltage at power-on to assess charge state. A fresh contact break sometimes prompts the device to re-sample voltage; if it still won't respond, try pressing the treatment button for a full three-second hold rather than a short press.
