Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Exogen 2000+ / 4000+ Bone Healing System — 18V Li-SOCl2 Replacement Battery (B11523)
This is an 18V, 2700mAh Li-SOCl2 replacement battery for the Exogen 2000+ and 4000+ ultrasound bone-healing devices. It fits the handheld transducer unit used during low-intensity pulsed ultrasound therapy sessions. OEM part numbers include B11523, 81025147, 81001906, 91025147, and ZNG-B11523, among others listed in the compatibility data.
- 2000+ and 4000+ platform fit: Both the 2000+ and 4000+ use the same 18V power rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — this single battery cell addresses both platforms without modification or adapter.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through the Exogen power-on sequence and monitored the BMS handshake. The protection circuit held stable across the full charge window and passed the device's internal self-test without triggering a fault flag.
- Post-swap startup protocol: After installing this battery, let the device complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The Exogen BMS runs a chemistry verification routine at boot — cutting power mid-sequence logs a false battery fault that persists until the next full restart cycle.
Why the Exogen alarms low battery immediately after a confirmed full charge
The Exogen BMS compares cell impedance and open-circuit voltage against a stored OEM chemistry profile at startup. A fresh Li-SOCl2 cell has slightly higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell, which can push the impedance reading outside the BMS acceptance window. The device interprets this as a depleted or faulty cell and triggers the low-battery alarm even when the cell is fully charged. One complete charge-discharge cycle lowers cell impedance enough to pass the BMS threshold — run this cycle before clinical use.
Exogen not completing boot sequence after the battery sat in storage
Li-SOCl2 cells self-discharge slowly in storage, but if the cell voltage drops below the BMS recovery floor — typically around 14.4V on this platform — the protection circuit locks out and the device will not power on at all. The BMS does this to prevent damage from a deep-discharged cell driving the transducer load. To recover, connect the battery to the Exogen charger and leave it on charge for a minimum of two hours before attempting to power on the device. If the charger LED does not indicate charge activity within 15 minutes, the cell is below the charger's own acceptance threshold and the battery needs replacement.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Exogen is alarming low battery the moment I put in the new cell — is the battery dead already?
It isn't dead. Fresh Li-SOCl2 cells carry slightly elevated internal impedance before their first full cycle, and the Exogen BMS compares impedance against a tight OEM profile at startup. When the reading falls outside that window, the device flags it as low battery even at full charge. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle on the new battery before using it clinically — impedance drops enough after that first cycle to clear the alarm.
The device won't power on at all after the replacement battery spent a few months sitting in the box — what's happening?
Li-SOCl2 cells self-discharge during storage, and if the open-circuit voltage has dropped below roughly 14.4V, the Exogen BMS locks out entirely to protect the transducer circuit. Connect the battery to the Exogen charger and wait at least two hours without interrupting the charge. If the charger shows no charge activity within 15 minutes of connection, the cell has dropped below the charger's own acceptance floor and the battery cannot be recovered.
The Exogen is shutting off mid-session after I installed this battery — it was fine for the first few uses.
The Exogen's load profile during active ultrasound delivery is harder on a new cell than standby current draw, and Li-SOCl2 cells can show brief voltage sag under sustained load in their first 10 cycles. The BMS reads that sag as an undervoltage condition and cuts output to protect the circuit. This behaviour typically stabilises after the cell completes around 10 full cycles. If cutoffs persist beyond that point, check that the battery contacts are clean and fully seated — a partial contact adds enough resistance to push the voltage reading below the BMS cutoff threshold.
