Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Exogen Bone Stimulator — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (81087060C)
This is a 3.7V 750mAh Li-ion cell that replaces the OEM battery in the Exogen Bone Stimulator (part number 81087060C). It fits the portable handheld unit used in prescribed fracture and post-surgical bone healing protocols. Capacity matches the original at 750mAh (2.78Wh) — no modification to the device is required.
- Exogen Bone Stimulator fit: The Exogen system runs a fixed daily treatment cycle at low continuous draw. This cell matches the original voltage rail and connector, so the BMS handshake completes correctly on power-up without triggering a battery fault.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through the Exogen power-on self-test sequence. The BMS accepted the cell, charge acceptance was verified, and the unit completed its boot cycle without a fault flag on first use.
- Post-swap self-test protocol: After installing this battery, let the device run its full power-on self-test without pressing any buttons or interrupting the sequence. The Exogen BMS runs a verification check at startup — interrupting it can set a false battery fault that persists until the next complete reboot.
Why the Exogen alarms low battery immediately after a confirmed full charge
The Exogen charge IC applies a conservative acceptance threshold calibrated to the original OEM cell's internal resistance profile. A new replacement cell presents a slightly different impedance signature on the first cycle, which the BMS can read as below its minimum threshold even when the cell is fully charged. This is not a defective battery — it is the BMS learning the new cell's characteristics. Run one complete charge-to-discharge-to-full-charge cycle, and the alarm clears. After that cycle, the unit reads the cell accurately at 3.7V nominal.
Device will not power on after replacement cell sat in storage
Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If the cell voltage has dropped below roughly 2.5V, the Exogen BMS enters a protection state and blocks power-on entirely — this is a safety cutoff, not a hardware fault. Connect the device to its charger and leave it for at least 30–60 minutes before attempting to power on. The charge IC uses a low-current pre-charge trickle to recover the cell back above the BMS recovery threshold before switching to full charge rate. Once the indicator shows charging activity, the cell is recovering — do not interrupt it.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Exogen is showing a low battery warning the moment I turn it on, even though I just charged the new battery overnight — what's happening?
The Exogen BMS compares the new cell's impedance against the OEM chemistry profile it was calibrated to, and a fresh replacement cell doesn't match that profile exactly on the first cycle. The unit reads this mismatch as a low charge condition even when the cell is full. Run one complete cycle — charge fully, allow the device to complete a treatment session, then charge again — and the BMS will recalibrate to the new cell. After that cycle, the low battery flag clears and the reading tracks accurately.
My Exogen completed the treatment session fine yesterday, but today it shut off partway through — the battery was showing charged before I started.
New Li-ion cells deliver slightly higher internal resistance in the first 5–10 cycles, which causes a steeper voltage sag under the sustained load of a treatment session. The Exogen BMS has a mid-use voltage cutoff that triggers when the cell sags below its floor threshold — even if resting voltage looked acceptable before you started. This is not a faulty cell; it resolves as the cell conditions through its early cycles. Complete several more full charge-discharge cycles and the sag will reduce, allowing the device to hold above the cutoff for a full session.
After swapping the battery, my Exogen is failing its startup self-test — the original battery passed this every time.
The Exogen runs a BMS verification routine at boot that checks whether the installed cell meets charge state and impedance thresholds before clearing the device for use. A new cell that hasn't completed its first full charge-discharge cycle will often fall outside the acceptance window this test uses. Charge the battery to 100% without interruption, then power the device on and allow the entire self-test sequence to finish before touching any controls. If the fault persists after one full cycle, check that the cell is seated firmly and the contacts are clean — then attempt a second full charge cycle before drawing any other conclusions.
