Fits Explay MU220 and SL240 smartphones; replaces OEM battery.
3.7V, 1050mAh lithium-ion cell restores full talk and standby time on the MU220.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot; locking tab seats flush against the housing.
We bench-tested this cell in an MU220 frame; BMS accepted charge current without fault codes.
On first use after installation, run one complete discharge-charge cycle before enabling any fast-charge mode to let the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against this cell's discharge curve.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Explay MU220 / SL240 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 3.7V, 1050mAh Li-ion cell replacing the original battery in the Explay MU220 and SL240 smartphones. It fits the same physical cavity and connector as the factory cell. Dimensions are 53.00 × 33.90 × 5.60mm — measure your original before ordering if you are unsure.

  • MU220 and SL240 shared platform: Both models run the same 3.7V single-cell architecture with an identical connector footprint and cell bay dimensions. One cell fits both because Explay used a common battery specification across this compact phone tier.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on the bench. The BMS accepted the charge IC handshake without error, and protection thresholds — overvoltage, undervoltage, and short-circuit cutoff — triggered at expected points.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first cycle: On first use after installation, run one complete discharge down to auto-shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. The fuel gauge IC in the MU220 is calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve — this single full cycle resets it to the new cell's actual capacity profile.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Explay MU220

This is a voltage cliff failure, not a capacity issue. When the modem transmits or the screen brightness spikes, current draw pulls the cell voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold faster than the fuel gauge can track. The phone shuts down even though the percentage counter still shows charge remaining. One full discharge-charge cycle after installation corrects this — the fuel gauge IC maps the new cell's actual voltage-to-capacity curve and the early shutdowns stop.

OS showing wrong battery percentage after cell swap

After fitting a new cell, the Android fuel gauge IC is still running the coulomb counter model it built around the degraded original battery. It reports percentage against the wrong baseline, so readings jump or plateau at incorrect values. This is not a fault with the replacement cell. Charge to 100%, let the phone discharge fully to auto-shutdown, then recharge to 100% without interruption — that single cycle resets the coulomb counter to the new cell's actual charge curve.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Explay MU220 won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for months — is the cell dead?

The BMS locks out when cell voltage drops below roughly 2.5V during storage, cutting all output to prevent damage. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a PC USB port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. Most BMS circuits re-initialise once they detect a trickle charge input and cell voltage climbs back above the recovery threshold. If the charging indicator still doesn't appear after 30 minutes, try a different cable and adapter to rule out a current-supply issue.

The MU220 is getting noticeably warm near the battery while charging the new cell — should I be concerned?

A new high-impedance cell generates more heat during initial charge cycles than a broken-in one. The charge IC pushes current into a cell with higher internal resistance until the first few cycles lower it. Warm-to-touch is normal; hot enough to be uncomfortable is not. If the phone stays hot throughout the entire charge rather than cooling as it approaches full, check that you are not using a fast-charge adapter on the first cycle — drop back to a standard 5V/1A charger until the cell completes two full charge cycles.

Fast charging stopped working on my MU220 after I fitted the replacement battery — it only charges slowly now.

On the first cycle after a cell swap, the charge IC sometimes defaults to standard charging because the USB protocol negotiation resets when BMS parameters change. This is a one-cycle behaviour. Run one complete charge to 100% on a standard charger, then discharge the phone fully to auto-shutdown. On the next charge, reconnect the fast-charge adapter — the charge IC should renegotiate the higher current profile once it has completed one full calibration cycle against the new cell.
