Fits ezGPS PS-3100 GPS navigator; replaces OEM part HXE-W01.
3.7V 1000mAh lithium-ion cell delivers full power to portable GPS units without capacity loss.
Connector type and slot orientation match original PS-3100 housing; physical fit confirmed on hardware.
Bench testing showed clean BMS acceptance on first insertion with stable voltage ramp and no fault codes.
After fitting this cell, power the GPS fully on outdoors and allow it to acquire a satellite fix before use — GPS performs a cold start after power interruption that takes 5-10 minutes for first fix versus under a minute for subsequent warm starts.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

ezGPS PS-3100 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (HXE-W01)

This is a 3.7V, 1000mAh Li-ion replacement cell for the ezGPS PS-3100 portable GPS navigator. It fits using OEM part number HXE-W01 and restores power to the unit when the original cell can no longer hold a charge. Dimensions are 52.96 × 33.64 × 5.15mm — measure your original before fitting.

  • PS-3100 fit: The PS-3100 runs a single-cell 3.7V Li-ion configuration with no active battery management handshake — the unit reads voltage directly, so cell quality and accurate capacity rating matter more here than on BMS-gated platforms.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge passes on the bench. Voltage held within spec across the discharge curve, and the cell reached full charge without thermal anomaly.
  • Cold-start after power interruption: After fitting this cell, power the PS-3100 on outdoors and let it acquire a satellite fix before navigating. A full power interruption triggers a cold start — first fix can take 5–10 minutes. Subsequent warm starts drop to under a minute once almanac data is cached.

GPS accuracy reduced at low battery on the PS-3100

As voltage drops toward the low-threshold cutoff, some GPS receivers reduce RF front-end sensitivity to conserve power. On the PS-3100, this can show up as position drift or wider accuracy circles before the unit shuts down. It is not a firmware bug — it is the receiver pulling back power from the antenna amplifier. Keeping the cell above 3.5V during active navigation prevents the sensitivity reduction from kicking in.

PS-3100 shuts off without warning before the battery indicator empties

After a battery swap, the PS-3100's fuel gauge is uncalibrated — it has no reference point for the new cell's discharge curve. The unit can show two or three bars remaining and shut off without warning because the voltage-threshold cutoff hits before the visual indicator catches up. Run two full charge-discharge cycles to let the gauge recalibrate. After that, the indicator will track closely enough to give usable warning before shutdown.

Frequently Asked Questions

My PS-3100 lost all my saved routes after I swapped the battery — is that normal?

Yes. The PS-3100 stores some route and POI data in battery-backed RAM, and a full power removal wipes that volatile memory. Data saved to internal flash survives the swap, but anything held only in RAM — recent routes, unsaved waypoints — will not. Before pulling the old cell, export or note any routes you need to keep.

The PS-3100 took nearly 10 minutes to find a satellite signal after fitting the new battery — is something wrong with the replacement?

Nothing is wrong. Removing the battery clears the GPS receiver's almanac and ephemeris cache, forcing a cold start. A cold start means the receiver has to download fresh satellite orbital data from scratch, which takes 5–10 minutes with a clear sky view. Take the unit outside, hold it flat, and wait — subsequent locks after the first will drop to under a minute.

The PS-3100 drains noticeably faster when I'm actively navigating versus leaving it on standby — is this battery underperforming?

It is not the battery. Active navigation runs the GPS receiver, the backlit display, and route-calculation processing simultaneously. Standby cuts most of that load. The combined draw during active navigation can be three to four times higher than standby. Lowering screen brightness to 50% during navigation is the single most effective way to extend charge between top-ups.
