Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Solarius BT GPS — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (HXE-W01)

This is a 3.7V, 1000mAh lithium-ion cell that replaces the original battery in the Solarius BT GPS portable navigator. It fits devices using OEM part number HXE-W01. When the stock cell degrades and the unit loses charge quickly or fails to power on, this is the direct swap.

  • Solarius BT GPS fitment: The HXE-W01 cell runs a single-cell 3.7V rail with a compact 52.96 × 33.64 × 5.15mm footprint. The connector and BMS communication match the original spec, so the host device reads charge state correctly without tripping a fault condition.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the bench, confirmed BMS cutoff activates correctly at low voltage, and verified the charge acceptance curve matches the Solarius BT GPS charging circuit without triggering protection flags.
  • Cold-start satellite acquisition after swap: After fitting this cell, power the unit on outdoors and let it run until it acquires a satellite fix before navigating. A full power interruption clears the GPS receiver's ephemeris cache, so the first fix after a battery swap takes noticeably longer than a normal warm start.

GPS accuracy reduced at low battery in the Solarius BT GPS

As cell voltage drops toward the lower end of the 3.7V nominal range, some portable GPS units reduce RF receiver sensitivity to stay within power budget. On the Solarius BT GPS, this can show up as position drift or a weaker satellite signal count before the low-battery warning appears. The fix is straightforward — keep the cell above the knee voltage by charging before extended navigation sessions. A degraded original cell hits this threshold much earlier than a fresh replacement cell at full 1000mAh capacity.

Solarius BT GPS shutting off without a low-battery warning

When the original cell ages, its internal resistance rises and voltage sags sharply under the load of active GPS reception and the display. The device's battery indicator reads from open-circuit voltage, not loaded voltage, so it can show two bars and then cut off immediately. This is a calibration mismatch between an aged cell's behaviour and what the firmware expects from a healthy cell. Fitting a fresh HXE-W01 cell restores normal voltage behaviour — the indicator and cutoff threshold realign after one full charge to 4.2V.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Solarius BT GPS lost all my saved routes after I swapped the battery — is that normal?

Yes, and it's a known consequence of full power removal. The Solarius BT GPS stores some navigation data in battery-backed volatile memory, so cutting power completely during a swap wipes anything held there. Saved routes and POIs stored in flash memory survive, but recent session data or unsaved waypoints do not. Before pulling the old cell, export or manually note any routes you can't afford to lose.

Satellite lock is taking 5–10 minutes after fitting the new battery — what's happening?

That's a cold start, not a fault. When the GPS loses power entirely, the receiver loses its stored almanac and ephemeris data — the orbital tables it uses to find satellites fast. Without that data, the receiver has to download fresh ephemeris from scratch, which takes several minutes outdoors with a clear sky view. After that first acquisition, subsequent warm starts drop back to under a minute as normal.

The Solarius BT GPS drains the new battery much faster during active navigation than it did on standby — is the battery faulty?

It isn't faulty — active navigation is a high-draw state. The GPS receiver is continuously tracking satellites, the processor is running routing calculations, and the display is on at full brightness, often all at once. Standby or sleep mode cuts receiver polling and dims or blanks the display, dropping current draw significantly. To extend charge between sessions, reduce display brightness and disable any Bluetooth pairing when it isn't needed.
