Fits Fairphone 4 and replaces OEM part number F4AC1 battery directly.
3.85V and 3900mAh capacity sustains the Fairphone 4's modular processor and display under full load without voltage sag.
Connector slots vertically into the Fairphone 4 battery compartment with flat contact alignment — no polarity reversal possible.
We bench-tested this cell in a Fairphone 4 reference unit; the fuel gauge IC accepted the new BMS handshake without lockout codes.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle so the coulomb counter recalibrates against this cell's discharge curve.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Fairphone 4 — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (F4AC1)

This 3.85V, 3900mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces the OEM F4AC1 battery in the Fairphone 4 smartphone. The Fairphone 4's modular back panel lets you swap the battery without tools or a service centre. Capacity figures come from our product data — 15.02Wh at nominal voltage.

  • Fairphone 4 modular bay fit: The F4AC1 cell uses a specific connector pinout and BMS handshake that the Fairphone 4's charge IC expects. The physical dimensions — 91.50 × 46.70 × 6.80mm — match the battery bay exactly, so the cell seats and latches without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the Fairphone 4 platform. The BMS accepted the cell, reported state-of-charge correctly after one full cycle, and the charge IC held the correct 4.4V upper cutoff throughout.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After fitting this cell, disable fast charging and run one full discharge down to automatic shutdown, then charge to 100% on standard speed. This lets the coulomb counter recalibrate its discharge curve against the new cell before fast-charge current is applied to an uncalibrated state-of-charge model.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Fairphone 4 after a cell swap

This happens because the fuel gauge IC still holds the old cell's discharge curve in memory. A new cell has a steeper voltage cliff under load — when the modem transmits or the screen peaks, voltage drops faster than the IC expects. The phone interprets that voltage drop as a dead cell and cuts power. One complete discharge-charge cycle with fast charging off forces the coulomb counter to map the new curve and eliminates the false cutoff.

USB-PD fast charging not activating on the first cycle after replacement

On first insertion, the new cell's BMS has not completed its initialisation handshake with the Fairphone 4's charge IC. The phone defaults to standard 5V charging rather than negotiating the higher USB-PD voltage. This is not a fault with the cell. Charge fully once at standard speed — on the second cycle, USB-PD negotiation completes normally and fast charge activates.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Fairphone 4 shuts off at around 25% with the new battery — is the cell faulty?

The cell is not faulty. The fuel gauge IC inside the Fairphone 4 calibrated its discharge model against your old, degraded cell. The new F4AC1 cell has a different voltage curve, and under modem or screen load the voltage drops faster than the IC predicts, triggering an early shutdown. Run one full discharge to automatic shutdown — no fast charging — then charge to 100%. After that cycle, the coulomb counter re-maps to the new cell and the shutdowns stop.

The battery percentage is jumping around erratically — it was at 60%, then jumped to 45%, then back to 55% within minutes.

This is the fuel gauge IC recalibrating after the cell swap. The old calibration data stored in the Fairphone 4's charge controller does not match the new cell's actual discharge curve, so the percentage estimate drifts as the IC tries to correct itself. Let the phone run down to automatic shutdown once — do not top up mid-cycle — then charge fully to 100% without interruption. After one complete cycle the IC locks onto the new curve and percentage reporting stabilises.

The phone won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months — is it bricked?

The cell has likely dropped below the BMS lockout threshold, which activates below approximately 2.5V per cell after extended storage. The Fairphone 4's charge IC will not pass current to a locked-out cell in a normal power-on attempt. Plug the phone into a wall charger — not a PC USB port — and leave it connected for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC trickle-charges the cell back above the lockout voltage, after which the BMS re-initialises and the phone powers on normally.
