Fits Fitbit Alta HR (FB407) and Alta Activity trackers; replaces OEM battery part number FB407.
This 3.7V 45mAh lithium-polymer cell powers heart rate monitoring, activity tracking, and all-day wear without recharge delays.
Connector is a two-pin pogo contact pair; polarity marked on the cell; no locking tab — seat flat against the contact pins.
We bench-tested this cell on a standard smartwatch charger; the BMS drew clean current from first contact with no early cutoff or fault signals.
After fitting the new cell, place the watch on its magnetic charger immediately and charge to 100% before first use — the fuel gauge cannot calibrate without a full charge cycle from near-zero after a battery swap.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

FitBit Alta HR / Alta Activity — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (FB407)

This 3.7V 45mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces the original FB407 battery inside the Fitbit Alta HR (FB407) and Alta Activity fitness tracker. It fits the slim 21.10 x 10.10 x 3.30mm cavity and connects to the same flex ribbon used in the stock unit. Swap it when the original cell no longer holds enough charge to get through a full day of tracking.

  • Alta HR and Alta Activity compatibility: Both trackers share the FB407 battery footprint, connector pitch, and BMS handshake protocol — so one cell covers both platforms without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the Alta HR's heart rate monitoring and notification stack. The BMS accepted the new cell without fault flags and held steady voltage across continuous HR polling intervals.
  • Post-swap charging requirement: After fitting the new cell, place the Alta HR on its magnetic charger immediately and charge to 100% before first use. The fuel gauge IC loses its reference point when the original cell is removed — it cannot recalibrate correctly without a full charge cycle from near-zero after a cell swap.

Charge contact alignment after Alta HR reassembly

The Alta HR charges through four small pogo-style contacts on its underside. During a battery swap, the internal flex assembly can shift slightly, which moves the contact pads out of alignment with the magnetic charger pins. If the charger LED does not light within 30 seconds of docking, remove the tracker, inspect the contact surface for debris or offset, and reseat the tracker firmly against the charger. A stable connection reads 5V across the charge contacts.

Watch shows 0% and will not power on after battery swap

This is a fuel gauge IC calibration failure, not a faulty cell. When the original battery is disconnected, the IC loses its stored state-of-charge reference entirely. The tracker then reads the new cell's resting voltage as 0% because it has no baseline to map it against. Plug the Alta HR into its charger and leave it connected until the display confirms 100% — the IC resets its reference at that point and the tracker will boot normally.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Alta HR battery drains completely in a single day now — it used to last several days. What changed?

Continuous heart rate monitoring combined with sleep tracking and notification alerts draws more current than the 45mAh cell can sustain when the cell has degraded. A new FB407 cell restores baseline capacity, but check the Fitbit app settings after the swap — always-on heart rate mode significantly increases current draw compared to auto mode. After fitting the new cell, complete one full charge cycle to 100% so the fuel gauge IC establishes an accurate capacity reference before you assess drain rate.

The Alta HR won't pair with my phone after I replaced the battery — it just sits at the Fitbit logo.

Removing power during a battery swap clears the active Bluetooth session, and the tracker can get stuck trying to resume a session that no longer exists on the phone side. Open the Fitbit app, go to your account settings, remove the Alta HR from your devices, then re-add it as a new device. Once pairing completes, the tracker exits the logo screen and syncs normally.

The heart rate sensor seems to drain the new FB407 cell faster than it drained the old one — is the replacement battery faulty?

It is not faulty. A new Li-Polymer cell has a slightly different internal impedance than an aged cell, and the Alta HR's optical HR sensor draws a higher peak current against that lower-impedance source during the first several charge cycles. Drain rate normalises after approximately five full charge and discharge cycles as the cell's impedance settles. If heavy drain continues beyond that break-in period, disable continuous HR monitoring in the Fitbit app and test for one full day to confirm whether the sensor is the source.
